18 “Outer Banks” Questions I Need Answered After Season 3
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Outer Banks Season 3.
The long wait for another season of Outer Banks has begun, and there are plenty of unanswered questions left hanging by the Season 3 finale. Here are some that I’ll be thinking about until Season 4 finally comes…
1. How and why did the Pogues reveal they’d found El Dorado?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXLast we saw it, it was being hoarded by the Cameron family in Guadeloupe. But considering John B and the Pogues were so obsessed with it for so long…are they really just letting it go? Especially now that Ward is supposedly dead? Meanwhile, is Rose just living her best life with all that gold?
4. Is Ward Cameron really dead?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXHe sure seemed dead at the end of Season 3, but the Pogues just left behind his body, which allows wiggle room for him to come back like the true villain he is. He’s done it before, after all!
5. And where’s Rafe?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXWe didn’t get any hint of what happened to Rafe in the 18-month time jump scene. Was he arrested? Is he in hiding? What evil deeds is he up to?
6. What about Wheezie?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXEveryone just kind of forgets about her. But the time jump could leave room for a bigger role for the youngest Cameron in the future. Especially if the Merchant gold ever comes back into play…
7. What happened to the charges against John B?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXWas everything forgiven because he found El Dorado or something?
8. What have the Pogues been doing for the last 18 months?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXWe need details!
9. Are they still all coupled up?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXThe Pogues have conveniently split off into three heterosexual pairings. Did all these relationships last through the time jump?
10. How is Kiara’s relationship with her parents?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXKie’s parents are cheering in the crowd when the Pogues are honored for finding El Dorado, but before the time jump, they were trying to have her forcefully held at a boot camp for troubled teens, which led to her escaping and fleeing the country. Surely, there was a lot to work through when she returned home.
11. Where are they all living?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXAt least three of them seemed to be homeless by the end of Season 3. So, what’s the living situation now?
12. Are they all just, like, addicted to treasure hunting now?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXSo far, the treasure hunts have had very personal connections for the Pogues — which has somewhat justified the pursuit of them at great personal cost. Did they really find the many near death (and, for some, actual death) experiences so fun they want to keep doing it?
13. Will Blackbeard’s treasure somehow be linked to Denmark Tanny?
NetflixEverything else has been. And it would make the Pogues’ motivations stronger moving forward…even if it would stretch believability even further.
14. Will Pope actually get to go to college?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXThat was his main goal at the start of Outer Banks, and John B mentions him heading off to school after the time jump. Will this actually happen, and if so, how will it affect the dynamic of the Pogues, not to mention their future treasure hunts?
15. Will John B’s mom ever show up?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXWe know she took off when John B was very young, but what happened to her after that? The show so far has been focused on exploring John B’s relationship with his dad, but what about his other missing parent?
16. What about JJ’s and Sarah’s mothers?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXJJ and Sarah also both have absent mothers. We haven’t heard much about what happened to them. Will that be explored in the future?
17. What happened to Carla Limbrey?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXLast we saw of her, she was “healed” but, uh…she wasn’t really, right? Will we ever see her again? Is she actually John B’s mother, as many fans theorized?
18. Finally, are they all in therapy?
JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIXWe saw hints of Sarah’s trauma in Season 3, but honestly, they’ve all been THROUGH it. Are they okay?
