The Irwins have rallied around one of their own, Bindi, following her recent medical procedure.

The Australian celeb received an outpour of support after she opened up about her decade-long struggle with endometriosis on social media. She detailed her experience with the disorder, which places the tissue that normally lines the uterus outside the uterus, usually on the intestines, ovaries, or fallopian tubes, with a picture of her from the hospital.

In an unexpected move, Bindi uploaded the image mentioned above that showed her smiling after her surgery, donning a blue and white hospital gown in the hours leading to this year’s International Women’s Day celebration.

The pic was accompanied by a lengthy caption in which she began by admitting that she spent “a long time wondering” if she should be upfront about her struggles with endometriosis.

Per The Blast, the 24-year-old’s responsibility to convey her story “for other women who need help” won, prompting her to speak of the “insurmountable fatigue, pain & nausea” she had dealt with for ten years. Bindi explained that one doctor dismissed her worries as “something you deal with as a woman,” causing her to accept her lot and try to “function through the pain.”

She eventually met an endometriosis specialist —  Dr. Tamer Seckin from the Seckin Endometriosis Center at Lenox Hill Hospital, who removed 37 lesions and a “chocolate cyst” – a term used to describe a cyst filled with menstrual blood, from her body.

Within hours of the update, the Irwins showed how united they were as a family when they took to their various social media pages to praise Bindi for exhibiting strength during her health challenge. Her husband, Chandler Powell, shared an Instagram post featuring a pic of them on the beach along with a sweet caption reading:

“You are my inspiration to be as strong as I can be in every aspect of life. Seeing how you pushed through the pain to take care of our family and continue our conservation work while being absolutely riddled with endometriosis is something that will inspire me forever.”

Bindi’s younger brother, Robert Clarence, also uploaded a selfie of him and his sister as he told her she had made him proud. The 19-year-old then expressed his happiness that she had her “life back,” adding that her “story of resilience” was “a beacon for women around the world who are suffering – and it’s a wake-up call for men too.”

Meanwhile, her mother, Terri, quoted the Twitter version of the announcement, expressing pride that her daughter “stayed the course and never gave up.” The 58-year-old hoped that “women everywhere” would have the courage to advocate for their health & healing” before reiterating Robert’s praise that Bindi was “a beacon of light” for everybody.

The “Dancing with the Stars” contestant’s candid message has also touched other celebrities, with Amy Schumer, who has battled with the condition too, thanking her for sharing her story. The comedian had alleviated her pains by undergoing a hysterectomy — a uterus removal procedure— and appendectomy — an appendix removal surgery— a couple of years ago.

The Reality Star Reflects On ‘Wild 2022’ In End Of Year Appreciation Clip

The Blast reported in December 2022 that Bindi had reflected on the year using a short selfie clip that she posted to Instagram. The zookeeper, who was dressed in well-known work clothes with plum-colored eyeshadow on her eyelids, began her monologue:

“Hi guys, it’s another beautiful day here at Australia zoo, and I just wanted to record this video to thank you so much for your amazing support.”

She explained that they had been busy with work at the zoo, getting their non-profit organization — Wildlife Warriors — to support their Australian zoo wildlife hospital, and sorting out “the many different conservation projects.”

After sharing her appreciation to the Irwin supporters and the teams managing the NGO and zoo, the “Growing Up Wild” star admitted that it had been “a wild 2022,” messing up her words as she shared that she was “looking forward to a great 2020… 23.”

Bindi explained that she mixed up the years thanks to not getting enough sleep as her daughter, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, was teething. The “Crickey! It’s the Irwins” alum welcomed the almost two-year-old when she and Chandler celebrated their first wedding anniversary on March 25, 2021.
