Mum slammed as ‘childish’ and ‘deranged’ after kicking woman’s plane seat in revenge

A mum, who likely thought she would receive support, instead found herself facing major backlash after kicking a woman’s plane seat repeatedly.

Posting on parenting website, Mumsnet, the woman asked if her actions were unreasonable while giggling with laugh emojis.

She explained that she’d taken a petty revenge on a fellow passenger whole on an overnight flight while sitting in Premium Economy.

However, the post quickly went viral and hundreds slammed her behaviour as “passive aggressive”, “unreasonable” and even "deranged".

Sharing her story, the mum said: “In short, red eye flight from America. The woman in front reclines her chair as soon as humanly possibly. No issue with that. The inflight meal comes about 45mins in.

“She is the ONLY person in the cabin who keeps her seat reclined, bearing in mind she is sat bolt upright to eat.”

Fellow mothers quickly said their bit with one noting: “You should've just asked her to put her seat up"

A second person asked, "Why didn't you just ask her to put her seat up while you're both eating? Are you 4 years old!”

Others also weighed in and slammed the mum for her behaviour. “You're passive aggressive, you should've spoken up if you were that bothered, which you obviously are," wrote one person. Another angry reader wrote: “Yes, you were an a***hole. You seem very proud of it which makes you a double a***hole."

The kicking mum then hit back by saying that she didn’t speak to the woman because she has a speech impediment, which seemed to garner a bit of support from a few other people.

One woman said: “You're better than me..I'd have kicked and then stood up loudly declaring whilst holding a glass of drink (hopefully sticky fizzy cola) and 'accidentally' poured it over the back of her seat (and possibly hair).

“Oops..if only I had more room!”

The mum then replied: “Look, I’ll be honest – I’m tired, jet lagged and absolutely petty. Yesss I could [have] tapped Wreck-it Recliner on the shoulder and asked her to put it up. But you know what. I didn’t want to.

“Why should I further my discomfort by forcing myself to communicate with her verbally… so I kicked her chair a few times to teach her a VIOLENT lesson in plane etiquette.

“Lol seriously please do call crimestoppers for my random act of violence – guilty as charged.”

She continued: “You have every right to recline same as me (although I signalled to the man behind before I whipped my chair back during lights down ).

“The meal came out, she wakes from her mini slumber and sits bolt upright to eat.

“She felt a bit of extra turbulence while eating her beef stew, didn’t appear concussed so I guess it won’t be a life sentence for me.”

“The reason you are being condemned is because your actions were childish,” one woman concluded.
