A Place In The Sun’s Jonnie Irwin addresses ‘comeback’ after cancer diagnosis

Jonnie Irwin has taken to Instagram to address rumours of a "comeback" on A Place In The Sun as he lives out his final days with stage four lung cancer.

Fans had hoped that a picture of himself and co-host Jasmine Harman at a Channel 4 event might mean he was well enough for a return to our television screens.

The social media snap was the first time the pair, who have worked alongside each other for nearly 20 years, have been pictured together since Jonnie, 49, told the public about his terminal cancer diagnosis.

It hadn't been a choice he'd personally made, but had proved to be essential under the circumstances.

A Place In The Sun said at the time: "Much loved by everyone on the production, no stone was left unturned in trying to enable Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during Covid but the production company was unable to secure adequate insurance cover for him.

"Whilst we were unable to continue to film abroad with him, we’re delighted that he was able to remain as part of our team in the UK for exhibitions. We of course understand how frustrating this must be for him at this incredibly difficult time."
