He steers clear of bread and pasta and avoids processed foods, as they contain what he calls “damaging” seed oils.

He said in a recent post that the words of a former SAS soldier have remained etched into his brain every time he does a pull-up.

"I always have the voice of a French Foreign Legion sergeant ring in my ear when I’m doing pull-ups,’ Grylls wrote.

"He used to shout at us saying: 'a man who can’t lift his body weight is dead weight!' Whatever it takes to motivate you, eh!"

It's remained a firm part of his fitness routine, with Bear explaining that he does 25 pull-ups, 50 press-ups, 75 squats and 100 sit-ups just for his warm-up.
