Alana Thompson’s boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, was recently arrested by Monroe County police for driving under the influence. The 21-year-old, who has been in a relationship with the reality star for over two years, reportedly took the authorities on a three-mile car chase before he was apprehended.

It was reported that Thompson, alias “Honey Boo Boo,” was in the car during the chase, although no charges were issued against her. Thompson has been living with her sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, since their mother, Mama June, was arrested over three years ago on drug possession charges.

Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson’s Boyfriend Arrested

According to reports from Radar Online, Carswell, who has been dating Thompson since 2021, was arrested by the cops on February 28 for driving under the influence. Carswell was driving his Dodge Charger when Police Corporal Jaleel Brown of Monroe County decided to run his plate.

The law officer discovered that the vehicle’s owner had outstanding warrants, which spurred him to initiate a traffic stop by signaling the driver. However, rather than stop the car, Carswell sped away from the location, leading to a three-mile chase.

The pursuit didn’t cease until the officer utilized a PIT maneuver, known as a precise immobilization method, to spin the car and render it impossible for the driver to run off.

Carswell was subsequently taken into custody and spent two days in jail. In the meantime, it is unclear when the 21-year-old will have his day in court.

Alana Thompson Was Reportedly In The Car During The Chase

Radar Online also reported that Thompson, 17, was with Carswell in the vehicle during the chase, although she was not charged for involvement. Per reports, the reality star is now a witness in the case between Monroe County and Carswell and might be expected to testify in any subsequent hearing.

The current outlook seems bleak for Thompson’s boyfriend as he was also charged with “one count of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, one count of following too closely, one count of failure to maintain lane and one count of speeding in excess of maximum limits,” in addition to his DUI charge.

Following Carswell’s arrest, Thompson was picked up by her sister Efird from the Monroe County jail. Efird has sole custody of the reality star after a Georgia court transferred the role from their mother, Mama June Shannon, in 2022.

Mama June Custody Ruling

The custody transfer comes more than three years after Mama June was arrested for possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia amid reports that she was seen with crack cocaine and a crack pipe on her.

At the height of the case, Thompson was sent to live with Efird in the interim before the court permanently handed her care to her sister.

Per People, the 2022 court verdict stated that Mama June was free to have a phone call conversation with Thompson every day, but visitation rights will be subject to the wishes of Efird. Mama June was also ordered to pay Efird $800 monthly in child support until Thompson attained the legal age of 18.

Additionally, the documents stated that Mama June’s income was around $25,000 per month and depended on the endorsement deals and salary from her reality series, which is set to premiere a new installment, “Mama June: Family Crisis,” in May this year.

Mama June Defends Alana Thompson And Dralin Carswell’s Relationship

In recent times, Thompson and Mama June have tried to rekindle their connection and embrace a less troubled relationship. The mother of four has shown her love for her daughter, as seen in her protective stance over her daughter’s relationship with Carswell.

“Yes, I’ve met Dralin. They’ve been together for over a year,” the reality star said in an interview with TooFab, per In Touch. “People need to realize that she’s going to be 17 in August and that Pumpkin and Josh were the same age as they were.”

She added, “She is getting a lot of hate because she’s in an interracial relationship, he is older. But at the end of the day, Alana’s not that 6-, 7-year-old child y’all fell in love with 11 years ago. Alana has grown up, she’s graduating high school next year, guys!”
