‘Dancing With The Stars’ Alum Confirmed To Replace Tyra Banks As Host

Tyra Banks recently confirmed that she is stepping away from her hosting gig at “Dancing With the Stars” after three seasons.

Although fans were hoping to see Tom Bergeron return as host, or “Bachelorette” star Gabby Windey take over, the Disney+ reality television show has decided to go in a different direction and bring back a past “Dancing With the Stars” pro and judge to replace Tyra Banks — none other than Julianne Hough.

Reports have confirmed that Julianne Hough will return to the ballroom and replace Tyra Banks as co-host. Alfonso Ribeiro will return as co-host alongside the “Dancing With the Stars” alum, while her brother, Derek Hough, will return to the judges table alongside Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

“It is such an honor to be rejoining ‘Dancing with the Stars’ as co-host. The show holds such a special place in my heart from the many years and different roles I have had the privilege of being a part of,” Hough told Variety. “The incredible team that brings the ballroom to life every night has been my family for the past 17 years. I am so excited to reunite with Alfonso, Carrie Ann, Bruno, Derek, the unbelievably talented pros, and the amazing cast on the dance floor.”

Julianne Hough first appeared on “Dancing With the Stars” as a pro dancer in 2007. The 34-year-old took home the Mirror Ball trophy twice — once in season four with her partner Apolo Anton Ohno and in season five alongside Hélio Castroneves.

She continued, “The energy is magnetic every time you step foot in to the ballroom and I can’t wait to feel it again — and of course to share it all with the absolute best and most loyal fans — for another exciting season.”

Hough has experience aside from being a professional dancer on the show as she was a judge from 2014-2017. She also returned as a guest judge on the show in 2021. She also has experience hosting television shows as for the past few years, her and her brother Derek Hough have hosted the “The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration” special.

Another fan was not happy with the choice at all, writing, “NO NO NO! Why do you do this to us. First you get ride of Tom and replace him with Tyra. Big mistake. I even said that years ago. Now we get Julianne? I guess not watching for the last 3 years is going to continue. So long to my old favorite show.”

As one “Dancing With the Stars” fan said the show made the right choice, Tweeting, “Aside from Tom, who’s irreplaceable, having a professional dancer & former #DWTS pro (and winner!) is the only way to go!”
