Jesse Williams Reveals He Stayed Sober While on Broadway
Jesse Williams is opening up about his sobriety experience and shared that he stayed sober while performing on Broadway.
During an interview with THR, the 41-year-old actor got candid about why he chose to not drink while in production for Take Me Out.

The outlet caught up with Jesse at Macallan’s James Bond 60th Anniversary release event, where he spoke about his no liquor decision.
“I didn’t drink during production during the show. It was eight shows a week and I was the lead and it was really brutal,” he shared, adding that he was also “learning how to control my voice. I was learning about my vocal power — I had to get a steroid shot once in my vocal fold because of the damage filling up an 1,100 seat theater every night for eight times a week.”
Jesse revealed that was his reasoning behind not drinking any liquor, however, as soon as the play started to end, “we ran into the Tonys, there was some imbibing happening. Scotch is one of my go-tos.”
He told THR that he prefers Scotch, saying “because you savor it, almost out of respect, it’s something that is cultivated and there is a level of complexity to it. The fact that you are savoring it is part of the enjoyment and a part of what you’re trying to decompress from in the first place.”
