Arsenal fans have 'tears in their eyes' as Robin van Persie and Jack Wilshere rolled back the years and combined for a goal on Saturday.

The two ex-Gunners were part of a World XI that took on Rangers Legends at Ibrox. And, with the score tied at 1-1, Arsenal fans could be forgiven for thinking they're in the wrong decade as Van Persie fed Wilsherefor their second.

The pair were firm fan favourites at the Emirates, before they both left at varying points in the 2010s. And Arsenal fans were more than happy to watch their former heroes roll back the years one more time.

One fan responded: "What could have been… would definitely be captain of club and country right now if fit!"

"Tears in my eyes, Wilshere rolling back the years," a second added. While a third tweeted: "Holy s***, he’d still cook for us!"

"The connection between Van Persie & Wilshere in this Rangers match…Take me back," a third added. While a fourth tweeted: "Watching Van Persie and Wilshere on the same pitch giving me old Arsenal feelings!"

Van Persie also got himself on the scoresheet, while Wilshere helped himself to another, as the World XI ran out 4-3 winners on Saturday afternoon.

However, it was Premier League cult hero Luis Boa Morte who tole headlines, as the Fulham assistant boss pulled out a winder goal with the score at 3-3.

Boa Morte curled the ball into the far corner from the edge of the box, sending Fulham fans wild.
