Singer Britney Spears posted a photo of a white square to Instagram… and over 80,000 followers liked it!
It’s not clear what Britney is trying to say in her latest Instagram post. There’s no caption, there are no comments and no photo!

When you’re famous, can you really post nothing and still get a ton of likes? Apparently, Britney Spears can! The “Hold Me Closer” singer took to Instagram on Sunday to share a photo of a single white square.
Fans got their hopes up thinking that she might have posted an audio clip, which she has done in the past, but it appears to be such a blank white square, leaving many fans wondering if she was trying to drop a secret message.

Since the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer hasn’t allowed comments on her Instagram posts for the past few months now, fans have had to other social media channels – notably Twitter and TikTok – to discuss the meaning behind some of Britney’s recent posts.
Although fans usually have some idea of what Britney is trying to say, many fans couldn’t even guess why Britney would post a blank white square. One fan kicked off the conversation, tweeting, “Britney Spears posted this white background to Instagram… i’m confused lol, is anyone else??”

“The way I kept trying to click something and adjust my volume all excited thinking it was a voice message,” one follower chimed in.

It’s been almost a full day since Britney shared the photo of the white square, so it’s hard to believe that she hasn’t noticed that she posted a photo instead of a video by now.
Is The White Square Supposed To Represent Britney’s Silence?

That being said, other fans speculated that her post might have something to do with Britney’s memoir, which is still yet to be released.

In February 2022, Page Six revealed that Britney Spears had signed a $15 million dollar deal with the publishing company Simon & Schuster. Although the book is reportedly finished, Publishers Weekly reported that the highly-anticipated memoir is delayed due to a “paper crunch” in the publishing industry.
At a Publishers Weekly webinar last year, Midland Paper Vice President Bill Rojack said, “I’ve been doing this for 25 years and I’ve never seen a market like this before.” Rojack claimed that paper mills have shifted over to producing corrugated cardboard and other material instead of book-quality paper.
“This is more than a market cycle,” Rojack explained. “It is a structural transformational sea change that happened so much faster than anybody expected because of COVID.”
In July 2022, TMZ reported that her book was finished and had originally been scheduled for release in January 2023. Although the outlet also reported that the book was delayed due to a paper shortage, given that many celebrities have been releasing books without a problem, fans can’t help but wonder what’s really going on.
Britney has been quiet about the release of her memoir but fans are hoping for new updates soon.
