Sport’s billionaires in 2023 in full – from Michael Jordan to Liverpool owner worth £3.2bn

The annual World's Billionaires ranking list has been unveiled by the business magazine Forbes – and it is littered with sporting stars.

The list also features numerous business moguls who have made all or part of their fortunes by owning sporting franchises or clubs.

It is one of those who leads the way in the shape of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the 133rd richest person in the world, with an estimated fortune of $13.3bn (£10.7bn).

Next up, in 138th place overall, is Stan Kroenke. Like the club he owns, Arsenal, this billionaire is on the up with a fortune of a shade under £13bn (10.45bn).

His other sporting interests will be helping as he also owns teams in the NFL (LA Rams), the NBA (Denver Nuggets) and NHL (Colorado Rapids).

Liverpool and Boston Red Sox owner John Henry also appears on the list at 699th, with a fortune of $4bn (£3.25bn). Moving away from football of either variety, former F1 overlord Bernie Ecclestone is 1,067th on the list with $2.9bn (£2.33bn).

Meanwhile, sports entertainment supremo Vince McMahon, who has just overseen the merger of WWE with UFC, boasts a fortune of $2.7bn (£2.17bn).

A couple of basketball icons, Michael Jordan and LeBron James feature on the list. The latter sits just below golf legend Tiger Wood, currently in action at the Masters, on $1.1bn (£880m). Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff has also crept onto the list with a fortune of $1bn (£800m).
