Mum meets daughter after 20 years – and didn’t even know she was born

A mum who donated her embryos was amazed to find she had a daughter – 20 years later.

Brooke Martin, 56, from the US, went through IVF treatment with husband Chris after dealing with blocked fallopian tubes and an ectopic pregnancy.

After having two embryos implanted, she became pregnant with twins Christopher and Matthew, both 22.

Instead of letting the other eight fertilised embryos thaw out or giving them to science, Brooke and Chris decided to donate them to the fertility clinic.

It wasn't until Thomas Monroe, 20, contacted Brooke's cousin Tod on 23andme in January 2021 when the couple discovered they had more children.

Brooke and Chris realised that they were biological parents to him and his two siblings, Lauren and Peter, and she described this as her "biggest moment."

"I would love to [find more kids]," the mum admitted.

"The way it worked back then is that we signed away our rights to ever find out anything.

"So, they to find us.

"We do have a clue when we got our medical records there was somebody who was asking for more information about our couples profile that we turned in back then.

"They were asking for it about six months before the Monroe's were looking at our embryos.

"So it could be possible that they were used – we won't know for sure. But bring it on."
