Hollywood king Ryan Reynolds has admitted he is feeling the nerves as Wrexham gear up for two potential title-deciding matches.

The Deadpool star, 46, co-owns the Red Dragons alongside fellow actor Rob McElhenney and the duo have overseen a mass transformation that has the club on the brink of promotion to the EFL. The Welsh outfit currently top the National League, having amassed a sensational 100 points with six matches remaining of the regular season.

And while a century in any other campaign would have seen them already over the line, Wrexham have been battling for the one automatic promotion spot with Notts County, who are just three points adrift in second – but have played a game extra.

With Notts edging a closely-fought contest 1-0 at Meadow Lane earlier this season, as the division's top scorer Macaulay Langstaff proved the difference, the two frontrunners are set to battle it out once more in the reverse fixture on Easter Monday – where Wrexham could put clear daylight between themselves and their promotion rivals.

If the result goes in Wrexham's favour, the day could go down as one the most monumental in the club's history but Reynolds isn't counting his lucky stars just yet. Giving a glimpse at his outlook, the Hollywood ace posted on Instagram: "A big few weeks ahead for Wrexham FC. Nervy as hell."

Wrexham travel to Halifax Town looking to put further distance between themselves and Luke Williams' men before Monday's giant clash at the Racecourse Ground, where they boast a near-perfect record.

From the 20 matches the Red Dragons have played at home this season, they have won 19. The only blemish on an otherwise faultless return is a 2-2 draw against Woking on Valentine's Day.

Promotion to League Two would signal a first stint back in the professional leagues since the end of the 2007/08 campaign. Defeat to Hereford United ended an 87-year stay in the Football League and despite two second-place finishes in the National League, Wrexham have so far proved unsuccessful in returning to the fourth tier.

The Red Dragons were beaten in dramatic circumstances in last season's play-off semi-final as Grimsby triumphed 5-4 after extra time at the Racecourse Ground – a devastating ending to the hit Disney+ docu-series Welcome to Wrexham, which has gained the club thousands of new fans across the Atlantic.
