While his long-time rival, Lionel Messi, currently plays in France for Paris Saint-Germain after spending the first 17 years of his professional career with Barcelona.

Ronaldo and Messi, who have been the biggest names in football for over 15 years, have a combined net worth of £885m ($1b) which is less than double Tiger and LeBron's joint net worth of £1.6b ($2.1b).

In Forbes' 2022 list of the highest-paid athletes in the world, Messi ranked first with total earnings of £104m ($130m), with LeBron second with earnings of £97.5m ($121m) and Ronaldo rounding out the top three, earning £92.5m ($115m) last year.
