Coolio’s Cause Of Death Revealed, Rapper Found With Substances At Time Of Passing

The mystery surrounding Coolio’s tragic demise has finally been exposed!

Artis Leon Ivey Jr., famously known by his rapper alias, was an entertainer who rose to fame as a member of the gangsta music groups WC and the Maad Circle. By the 90s, the artist’s solo career took off with chart-topping songs like “Gangsta’s Paradise.”

The record producer took his final breath in September 2022, a shocking demise that raised several questions, including his cause of death. Now, fans and relatives of the Grammy winner can rest easy as new information has been released.

Last September, pals of the “Hit ’em High” rapper suspected the entertainer had died because of his “severe asthma.” However, the coroner’s report revealed that the entertainer’s cause of death was a fentanyl overdose.

The Los Angeles native’s autopsy report noted that the deceased had heroin and methamphetamine in his system at the time of his passing. However, the father of ten’s friends’ suspicions was not wrong, as investigators believed his poor health was crucial to his death.

Coolio’s “severe asthma,” alongside his longtime use of cigarettes, might be partly responsible for his unfortunate demise on September 28. Additional information from the coroner’s report revealed extenuating circumstances surrounding the “Hit Em’ High” crooner.

Authorities allegedly found three bags of drugs and drug-related materials at the scene of the 59-year-old’s death. The document stated that these items reportedly belonged to the deceased.

The police also discovered “a baggy” containing suspicious materials such as a “brown powdery substance, foil with burn residue, a straw/tube, saline solution, a spoon with residue.” Additionally, law enforcement found over-the-counter CBD products and vitamins.

The coroner’s report and police investigation contradicted the initial record that “no illicit substances” were present at the scene of Coolio’s death, an apartment belonging to the late artist’s friend. Fortunately, the news of his overdose has not stopped the “Fantastic Voyage” rapper from being honored by his loved ones.

The artist’s manager announced that the deceased’s seven adult children — Brandi, Jackie, Melan, Christopher, Artis III, Darius, and Artisha — plan to pay tribute to their late father through his music. The brood’s project also included sentimental jewelry to honor the entertainer’s legacy.

Creating touching memorabilia was nothing new to the Los Angeles native’s children as the family produced necklaces with their father’s remains. A month after his death, they announced the development of pendants enclosed with Coolio’s ashes.

Each child personalized their jewelry with a special inscription, ensuring their father’s memory was not forgotten. As they continue to honor the late Coolio’s legacy, it was reported the rapper’s ten children should split the deceased’s estate amongst themselves, as the 59-year-old died without a will.

A probate was reportedly filed by the “See you when you get there” musician’s former manager to facilitate the appraisal of the Los Angeles native’s estate. The document also lists Coolio’s seven adult children as his next of kin and potential beneficiaries.

According to the petition, the value of the late rapper’s estate was presumably over $300,000. This included “personal property and demand deposit accounts, financial accounts, insurance policies, and royalties.” At the time, the exact value of the Hip-hop star’s assets had not been determined.

The ‘Cookin’ with Coolio’ Star Chose Be Cremated Before His Passing

Last year, The Blast reported that Coolio’s longtime girlfriend, Mimi Ivey, opened up about her lover’s final wishes. In a heart-to-heart interview, the media personality revealed that the late rapper specified how he wanted to be remembered.

Although many wanted their passing celebrated with grand ceremonies, the “Coolio’s Rules” star took the simple route. According to his grieving girlfriend, the Los Angeles native wished to be cremated.

“I’m respecting his wishes. He wanted to be cremated. He did not want a funeral; he did not want a memorial service. He didn’t want any of that,” the “Love Goals” star confessed.

Although the video vixen did not expound on her late lover’s posthumous wishes or share the date of his cremation, a source happily shared more details. The insider noted that there would be an intimate service to honor the rapper’s legacy.

However, invitations to the private ceremony were not publicized. This meant that serval of the deceased’s friends and acquaintances in the industry could not attend the event. The low-key setting was to avoid possible fights caused by Coolio’s exes and the mothers of his ten children.
