In Hollywood, it’s basically a given that actors and directors are going to cast their own kids in their projects. However, some of those “nepo babies” are actually fur babies.
Other times, actors bond with their animal costars so much that they end up adopting them. Then, the first time they met is forever immortalized on film.
Here are 23 celebs who worked alongside their real-life pets onscreen:
1. In Blonde, Ana de Armas plays Marilyn Monroe, and her dog, Elvis, plays Marilyn’s dog, Mafia.

2. Chris Evans met his dog, Dodger, at an animal shelter where he filmed scenes for Gifted.

6. While filming her music video for “ME!” Taylor Swift filmed a scene with a kitten named Benjamin Button. She ended up adopting him.

10. In A Star Is Born (2018), Bradley Cooper plays Jackson Maine. Since he also directed the movie, he cast his labradoodle, Charlie, as Jackson’s dog, who’s also named Charlie.

You know, didn’t have much preparation and was just thrown in and had to swim, basically. So, we got to be close, and I wanted to stay in touch with him. … We got through it together and became friends.”

So, I just jumped on him, put a Rohan saddle on him, and I rode him that day, immediately on camera. But he was very easy and relaxed, and I just wanted Eurayus to have a buddy.”
21. When Roy Rogers landed his first starring role in the 1938 film Under the Western Stars, he needed a horse, so he chose Trigger, who already had movie experience. The studio rented the horse until the actor bought him for $2,500 in 1943. Trigger appeared in all of Rogers’s movies. The horse even got top billing at the actor’s insistence.
