10 Celeb Exes That Became Friends Again And 10 That Went No Contact

For most people, it’s unusual to stay friends with an ex. Breakups are uncomfortable, and a lot of times, someone walks away with bad feelings about the situation.

But some people can inexplicably let bygones be bygones and still get together, and even share a laugh.

There are celebrity couples who fall into each camp.

1. Bruce Willis and Demi Moore could teach a master class in blending families.

In 2007, Bruce met current wife Emma Heming, whom he married two years later. Emma and Demi regularly are seen in pictures together and comment on each other’s social media, blending their combined five daughters as well.

2. But Katy Perry and Russell Brand prove that some goodbyes are forever.

According to Perry, the two never spoke again after he texted her, informing her that he was filing for porce after two years of marriage.

When she hosted Saturday Night Live in May 2022, she had no trouble poking fun at their time together — with Armisen standing next to her on stage.

“You know, Freddie and I, we dated for seven years. We were the only couple with a sex tape that nobody wanted to buy,” she joked during her monologue.

4. Sandra Bullock and Jesse James cannot.

When we met [on the set of Step Up in 2005] it felt like we had known each other for many years. Ultimately, no matter what Chan and I are doing, we’re really great friends. I think that will never change, no matter what.”

6. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie could never.

Explaining her bond with her best friend and ex, Kaling told Drew Barrymore, “He is a wonderful friend, and he is the godparent of both my kids, and he loves children, and they’re so attached to him.”

“He’s really part of our family, but we’ve known each other for a long, long time, and I think anyone who’s been friends with someone for 18, 19 years and at one point dated and now doesn’t, they maybe understand this,” she continued. “You have exes that you wouldn’t necessarily marry now.”

8. Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray definitely do not.

Over the years, Bush admitted that she and Murray were reluctant about tying the knot, being so young and mixed up personally and professionally. In August 2021, she declared she wouldn’t talk about her ex anymore, calling him, “somebody who I don’t even know anymore.”

9. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin “consciously uncoupled” and have no trouble getting together for their kids.

In a January 2019 interview, Paltrow explained her perspective on their 2013 split after a decade together.

“Family structure can be reinvented, and porce doesn’t have to be devastating,” Paltrow told the Evening Standard. “It doesn’t have to be the end of your relationship with somebody.”

“I think Chris and I were meant to be together and have our kids,” Paltrow continued. “But our relationship is much better like this: friends and co-parents and family.”

10. John Mayer and Taylor swift aren’t just never getting back together; they’re harboring some rough feelings.

Simpson, in her memoir Open Book, said of her marriage to the former 98 Degrees boybander, “We were young and pioneering our way through reality television, always miced and always on. We worked, and we were great at it, but when it came time to being alone, we weren’t great at it anymore.”
