Fyre Fest founder Billy McFarland is living a life of freedom these days! He is a year out of his six-year prison sentence and is eying big projects.

McFarland is best known for his disastrous passion project Fyre Festival. The 31-year-old set out to found a music festival alongside Ja Rule in the Spring of 2017.

The result would become one of the most significant popular culture moments of recent years. The festival’s downfall was chronicled via documentaries on both Netflix and Hulu, and their aftermath helped propel McFarland into notoriety.

He was sentenced to six years and granted an early transfer to community confinement.

McFarland is looking to put jail time in his rearview mirror by attempting to get back on the festival circuit. Could he bring back his disgraced Fyre Festival for a second round?

McFarland Plead Guilty To Two Counts Of Wire Fraud

McFarland was sent to prison after failing to deliver a grand-scale music festival. According to our report on McFarland’s community confinement transfer, his lawyers petitioned him for an early release two years ago but were denied.

McFarland eventually spoke out about the disastrous festival and apologized for his actions.

“I am incredibly sorry for my collective actions and will right the wrongs I have delivered to my family, friends, partners, associates, and the general public,” he said in a People interview. “I’ve always sought-and dreamed- to accomplish incredible things by pushing the envelope to deliver for the common good, but I made many wrong and immature decisions along the way and caused agony. As a result, I’ve lived in prison daily with pain, and I will continue to do so until I can make up for some of the harm through work and actions that society finds responsible,” McFarland promised.

The Fyre Fest Founder Is Indeed Doing Some Work!

McFarland is staying true to his word by entertaining new business ventures.

Last Fall, he took to his TikTok to share his latest idea with his followers. He promised to expand on the details later on, but the tidbits he shared were that his project would be a new and “crazier” venture than anything he’d ever attempted before.

He also said, “Everybody” was invited to participate in this venture.

According to our report on McFarland’s plans, TMZ eventually found out he was seeking to plan yet another festival.

Months later, it looks like Fyre Festival’s predecessor may be closer to becoming a reality.

Over the weekend, McFarland broke the news on Twitter that the new festival is a-go.

McFarland asked his followers why they believed they should be on the guest list for Fyre Fest II. The thread currently has over one thousand responses.

According to Consequence, OG Fyre Fest figure Andy King will be on board. Fans will likely remember King as the fellow willing to do anything to secure Evian water for the festival.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk was also roped into the venture. McFarland tagged Musk in a tweet in another thread and petitioned for an eventual Fyre Fest THREE to take place in outer space.

McFarland’s Twitter thread gained a lot of traction. King was mentioned several times in the line, and McFarland consistently interacted with fans.

“LMAO, anyone who buys a ticket this time deserves what they get,” a fan said. “The online schadenfreude will be epic.”

“Because I’ve camped in pretty bad conditions and won’t complain about the (lack of) housing,” a Twitter user said.
