During an interview with Today’s Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, Vanessa Hudgens, 34, opened up about her newfound confidence as she prepares to tie the knot with her 26-year-old fiancé, Tucker.

“It feels amazing,” the “High School Musical” star gushed per People magazine. She continued, “It’s so funny, I was talking about this with Cole…. People are always like, ‘Does it feel different? [Do] things feel different [getting engaged]?'”

“That was always my question normally, but now I get to be asked it,” Hudgens said. “And you know what, it actually does,” she added. “There’s a sense of security. You feel so safe. It’s the best thing ever. I love being a fiancée.”

On February 9, the actress took to Instagram proudly showing off her engagement ring in a joint post with her baseball player beau with the caption “YES. We couldn’t be happier.”

In her interview on Today, she shared that she knew almost instantly that he was the one. Recalling the special moment, she said, “After our first weekend together, I called my sister and was like, ‘I think I just found my future husband,” noting that she was immediately drawn in by “who he is.”

Hudgens also addressed her fiancé’s tweet from 2012, when he was a teenager, expressing his desire to find “a girl who’s down to watch High School Musical with me and scratch my back.” Acknowledging the coincidence, Hudgens chuckled, saying, “It’s funny because I played Gabriella Montez in the Disney film series.”

She Is Preparing For Her Big Day

Following their engagement in February, two years after they started dating, Hudgens told People in an interview last month that although she knew the moment would eventually come, she was delightfully surprised how it did.

“I was extremely surprised,” she recalled. “We had definitely talked about it, but I did not expect it to happen the way that it happened and the moment that it happened. It definitely caught me off guard, and I was bawling my eyes out.”

During the conversation, she also gushed about her engagement ring, saying she couldn’t stop staring at it. “It’s gorgeous,” she says. “I love it. I get distracted by it all the time.”

As for the wedding, Hudgens disclosed that the planning was underway but also overwhelming. “It’s a big daunting thing — so much goes into it,” she confessed.

In November 2020, speculation about Hudgens’ romantic life with Tucker began to swirl when they were spotted hand-in-hand in Los Angeles. It was later revealed that the couple had met on a Zoom group call, and Hudgens took the initiative and made the first move.

During an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in May 2021, Hudgens shared the story of how she and Tucker connected. “I get on Zoom, and I’m like, ‘Who is that? I found him, and we started talking,” the actress said, per People. The couple then made their relationship official on Instagram on Valentine’s Day that same year.

Hudgens remains unapologetic about taking the initiative in pursuing what she wants, stating, “If I want something or someone, I’m going after them. I fully just slid into his DMs and was like, ‘Hey, it was nice to meet you.’ So I think there is no shame in making the first move.”
