Broncos WR tweets sign of potential dissatisfaction with Denver

Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton shared a message online Friday that many construed as a sign he wants out of Denver.

I just want to be where I’m wanted and appreciated.

With no follow-up message, Sutton could be referring to any number of non-football-related things with his tweet. But NBC Sports’ Matthew Berry’s report which surfaced earlier this week that the Broncos are shopping him gives credence to the thought Sutton’s unhappy in Denver.

“I’m told the Broncos are quietly shopping Courtland Sutton,” Berry wrote. “Not actively pushing him, but trying to see if there’s a trade market for him and if they get a decent offer, would move him.”

ESPN’s Dianna Russini slightly pushed back on that report Friday, saying the team isn’t shopping Sutton, or fellow wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, although that hasn’t stopped teams from attempting to pry either away from Denver.

Multiple teams have called the Denver Broncos to inquire about both Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy, per sources.
I was told Denver is “not shopping them” but reminded every GM takes the call. https://t.co/PiP9GlJPz2

Sutton had 64 receptions, 829 yards and two touchdowns in 2022. He was drafted 40th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft and has 55 career starts in five seasons with the Broncos.

Jeudy was drafted 15th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft and led Denver with a career-high 972 receiving yards in 2022.

Carolina could be a good landing spot for Sutton should he be moved. The Panthers need a wide receiver after trading D.J. Moore to Chicago for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but they aren’t the only ones who could use a wideout.

The Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens are among the teams in the wide receiver market this offseason and Sutton, 27, would be a compelling option.

He has 239 career receptions for 3,487 yards and 14 touchdowns. At 6-foot-4, Sutton’s a big target and young enough to be a major contributor for the next few seasons.

Whether that’s with the Broncos or another team is to be determined. Sutton signed a four-year, $60.8 million contract extension in Nov. 2021 that runs through the 2025 season.
