Serena Williams Kickstarts Entertainment Career With Launch Of Production Company

Serena Williams is securing that entertainment bag!

The retired athlete has launched a production company, proving that being out of the field cannot stop her from making the big bucks. The feat follows the box-office success of “King Richard,” the biopic that details the story of Richard Williams, the father and coach of the former tennis pro, and her sister, Venus — both of whom served as executive producers on the Hollywood project.

Serena Williams Launched Her Multimedia Company Amid Her Retirement From Tennis

Barely one year after she told the world that she was “evolving from tennis,” Williams has announced the launch of her multimedia house, 926 Productions. To share the vast news, the mother-of-one addressed a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, explaining:

“With the launch of 926 Productions, we aim to elevate female and diverse voices through content that speaks to everyone. I’m so excited to begin this next chapter of my career alongside Caroline [Currier], a woman who understands the art of storytelling and is passionate about evolving the entertainment industry in new directions.”

The 23 Grand Slam singles titles champion added that she was excited to be “collaborating with” Currier to create “unique projects that inspire audiences across all platforms.” Ultimately, the Michigan-born celeb planned to reinforce women and various other individuals through “four-quadrant storytelling that appeals to a broad range of age groups and genders.”

As it stands, Williams already has projects in the pipeline, including the upcoming soccer documentary “Copa 71.” The project would recount details from the historic 1971 Women’s World Cup and see the tennis legend and Currier — the company’s appointed president — as executive producers.

The Palm Beach Gardens resident’s money-making news comes soon after her fans received a never-before-seen image from the day she welcomed her baby girl, Alexis Olympia Ohanian. She had taken to Instagram to upload the pic, which showed her and her husband, Alex Ohanian, staring adorably at their daughter shortly after her arrival.

The 2016 world’s highest-paid woman athlete used the post to spotlight this year’s Black Maternal Health Week. Although Williams has often shared her experience with the risks the United States healthcare system poses to African-Americans, the update still got an appreciative reaction from viewers.

“We can’t force these doctors to value black lives, but we can hold them accountable,” one fan wrote in the comments. Even the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) commented:

“Thank you for speaking up and advocating for a better world – every mother and every child have the right to compassionate care and treatment.”

In the months after her evolution from tennis, Williams opened up about her new routine; The Blast shared in December. According to The Blast, the doting mom shared the update via Twitter, writing:

“I’m currently allowing myself To relax. Allowing myself to just be. It’s harder than I ever imagined. I’ve never allowed myself to do any of that before…”

The tweet seemingly struck a chord with her followers and notable figures alike, including Sherrilyn Ifill, former president and director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defence Fund. The lawyer’s response read:

“I understand this deeply. Shutting down the “adrenaline lifestyle” is incredibly difficult and takes longer than we imagined. It’s a process, and we must be kind to ourselves as we navigate it.”

Dr. Jen Caudle also tweeted with a supportive statement: “Take it one day at a time. Allow yourself to feel all the feelings. This may be a new existence for you, so it’s understandable how you feel. Hang in there. (Disclaimer: I’m not a therapist, just a family doc who talks to many people about how they feel).”

Taking a step away from that, one person reminded the “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” cameo star that she had earned the right to relax, adding that she would “remain an inspiration to millions of men and women around the world.”

The S By Serena founder previously told her social media followers that she was “bored,” alongside a picture of a tennis racket lying against a grey background reminiscent of the court floor.
