Warning: this post mentions sexual assault.

Last week, a 2014 video of David Choe seemingly talking about raping a woman resurfaced. On the DVDASA podcast he cohosted with Asa Akira, he told an extremely graphic story about masturbating while getting a massage and forcing the massage therapist to perform oral sex on him. He also called himself a “successful rapist.”

Earlier this week, investigative reporter Aura Bogado tweeted that Twitter removed the video of the podcast she shared. She said that David filed a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown notice due to a copyright violation.

Today, Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and executive producers and stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong finally responded to the controversy by releasing a statement to Variety.

“We’re aware David has apologized in the past for making up this horrific story, and we’ve seen him put in the work to get the mental health support he needed over the last decade to better himself and learn from his mistakes,” they concluded.
