I’m A Celeb fans issue same format complaint just minutes after ITV show returns

ITV viewers rushed to complain just minutes into the first episode of I'm A Celebrity… South Africa on Monday night (April 24).

The star-studded legends series aired its first episode at the start of the week, with the likes of former Countdown star Carol Vorderman, Corrie star Helen Flanagan taking to the jungle in South Africa.

But just minutes into the launch show, fans were left fuming that the show was pre-recorded rather than being live, like it normally is, and they didn't hold back when they took to Twitter during the episode.

Jordan Banjo, Carol Vorderman and Amir Khan were among the celebs who appeared in the first episode

A fifth added: "Something about this not being live that doesn’t sit right with me."

The scrapping of the live format on the All Stars series means that there will be no public votes from viewers, so the celebs will knock each other out in head-to-head challenges.

It also means the winner of the show has already been picked, so fans aren't able to vote for their king or queen of the Savanna.

Last year, the Mirror reported that I'm A Celeb South Africa was intended to be filmed as a backup in case producers were unable to return the show to Australia following the Covid pandemic.

The 2020 and 2021 series of I'm A Celeb were filmed at Gwyrch Castle in north Wales as Covid restrictions meant the show was unable to travel to Australia to film the series as usual.

The first episode saw Carol, Amir Khan and Jordan Banjo face a 50m drop over the edge of a mountain, and the likes of Helen Flanagan battle her fear of heights in a Total Wipeout-style challenge.
