Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim should be thankful Faiq Bolkiah doesn't fancy buying Manchester United from the Glazer family.

For anyone who has been living under a rock for the last few months, United are up for sale. The 13-time Premier League champions have been on the market since November, with the Glazer family reportedly seeking around £6billion for the club.

That's a drop in the ocean for Bolkiah, who has been dubbed the world's richest footballer. As the nephew of the Sultan of Brunei, Bolkiah has an incredible reported net worth of around $28billion, or £22billon.

Despite the 24-year-old's connection with wealth – his father, Prince Jefri, once spent £17m on Michael Jackson to play at his 50th birthday – Bolkiah remains focused on his football career.

The Brunei international has shunned the lifestyle that his heritage promises, instead embarking on a career that began in the UK with non-league side AFC Newbury.

He had subsequent spells with Southampton, Chelsea and Leicester in his youth career, before joining Maritimo in Portugal. He now plays in the Thai Premier League for Chonburi, who are on the cusp of AFC Champions League qualification.

While Bolkiah keeps his attention firmly on the pitch, the likes of Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim are still in the running to buy Man Utd from the Glazer family.

The deadline for third and final bids is 10pm on Friday, with both parties expected to remain in the running for the club. However, reports emerged on Wednesday that the Ratcliffe bid could allow Avram and Joel Glazers to remain stakeholders at Old Trafford.

INEOS are proposing to own a shade over 50% of United, meaning the Glazers would retain a stake of around 20%.

He faces competition from Qatar's Sheikh Jassim, who is proposing a 100% buy out of the Red Devils, which is expected to come in at around £6billion.
