Eric ‘Butterbean’ Esch was the daddy of heavyweight boxing and MMA – what many do not know is that he is also a daddy in the real sense.

There is nothing Butterbean enjoys more than wearing his iconic stars and stripes boxing trunks and spinning jaws in the ring. Unfortunately for his millions of fans, Butterbean is retired and has not fought since 2013.

However, for those who did not get too many opportunities to see the ‘King of the Four Rounders’ in action, they will soon be able to watch the closest embodiment of the colossus – his son, Bean Jr.

Brandon Esch did try to follow in his father’s footsteps by trying his luck in MMA. Unfortunately for him, he did not manage to replicate his father’s success. He only had three professional fights between 2008 and 2010 and the record was an unfortunate zero victories and three losses. But he will be competing at the same event as his father at the end of the month.

The pair will be competing at the Roughest and Toughest Brawl in Irondale, Alabama. It promises to be quite the spectacle with crazy fighter Jimmy Mooney and American gaming star ‘The Crazy Hillbilly' also set to be there.

Butterbean, unsurprisingly, won most of his fights via knockout

Nevertheless, Butterbean and Bean Jr are certainly the biggest draws at the event. Butterbean’s extraordinary power saw him retire with a stunning record of 76 victories, 10 losses, four draws and an extraordinary 57 knockouts. But there was one victory which left an unforgettable impression on his children – as they thought he had killed his opponent.

In 1999, Esch was hired by WWE to fight then wrestler Bart Gunn at Wrestlemania XV in a boxing fight. Over the course of 35 seconds, Butterbean absolutely pulverised Gunn, who had never fought in a boxing or MMA bout and only had experience in wrestling.

"I got home and my kids come home from school, and they’re a little upset,” Butterbean told VICE TV . "They go, ‘Dad! My friends told me you killed a guy on TV! You killed Bart Gunn!’ I said, ‘He’s not dead, he just looked like it.’"

"When Vinny let the fight go on, I’m, like, ‘Aw, Vinny, you don’t wanna do that, he’s out of it'," he added. "So I just give him one last good right hand. His head actually turned around backwards.”
