Horror Nascar crash leaves driver with broken back as cars somersault in the air
NASCAR driver Alex Bowman has said he is “feeling okay” despite fracturing a vertebra in a terrifying crash during the sprint car race.
Bowman’s car somersaulted in the air and crashed back down into the turf after he collided with Conner Morrell at the High Limit Sprint Car Series in West Burlington, Iowa.. The Florida driver made contact with Bowman’s rear tire, sending both motors flying into their air in front of a shell-shocked crowd.
Despite the terrifying height both cars reached and the sheer force they came down with, both drivers emerged from their cars and were even able to walk away. However, the Arizona ace did not escape the wreckage completely unscathed.

“Last night I was involved in an on-track incident while racing and fractured a vertebra,” Bowman said in a statement online. “First, I want to let everyone know I’m feeling ok.
“My focus is now on healing and resting. Being out of the car is never an update any driver wants to make.

“I’m thankful to Josh Berry and Hendrick Motorsports for stepping up to the plate. I know the entire Ally Racing team will give it their all these next few weeks.
“I’ll be doing everything I can at home to help the team and ensure my recovery is as quick as possible to get back in the 48 car soon.” Bowman was enjoying a very impressive campaign before the horrific crash, winning seven races over the course of the series.
He has also impressed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series as well as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. It is currently unknown if Morrell came away with any injuries of his own.
But considering the way in which he was able to walk away from the wreckage, the likelihood of him suffering anything too serious is thankfully low.
