Jada Pinkett Smith’s Facebook Watch series, “Red Table Talk,” will end after five seasons.

The series is famous for serving as an outlet for celebrities to reveal their perspectives through intimate conversations with Smith, her mother, Adrienne ‘Gammy’ Norris, and Smith’s daughter Willow. Notable interviews include a confessional conversation between Smith and her husband, Will. Influencer Olivia Jade appeared at the ‘red table’ for her first interview following the 2019 college admissions scandal.

“Red Table Talk” is not the only Facebook Watch series to be canceled. Meta will reportedly focus on “virtual-reality experiences” from hereon out, effectively ending all Facebook Watch series, according to NBC.

What Are The Details About ‘Red Table Talk’s Cancellation?

The gutting of Facebook Watch results from Meta’s efforts to reduce costs for the company, NBC also reported. Sources at the company have not revealed any additional information, except for a confirmation that Facebook Watch will no longer be part of the company.

The aforementioned virtual reality experiences will reportedly be able to be “accessed across Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.” The virtual reality experiences will also be accessed via Meta Horizon Worlds.

The outlet also reported that Meta’s Head of Development, Mina Lefevre, will leave the company following Facebook Watch’s shutdown. Lefevre had been at the company for six years.

Last month, Meta announced their plans to cut 10,000 additional positions following a steep year of employee layoffs the previous year.

Mark Zuckerberg provided insight to Meta employees about the layoffs and the company’s plans to restructure costs.

“Here’s the timeline you should expect,” Zuckerberg told employees in a memo, “org leaders will announce restructuring plans focused on flattening our organs, canceling lower priority projects, and reducing our hiring rates…”

Zuckerberg also reportedly warned employees to prepare themselves for economic uncertainty to continue.

The memo had also been posted to Meta’s blog, NBC reported.

Smith later took to her Instagram to comment on “Red Table Talk”s cancellation.

“We are so grateful to have had such a beautiful partnership with Facebook Watch, and we are sorry to see the entire team disbanded,” Smith continued. “We wish everyone well in their new journeys to come.”

Smith’s statement also revealed possible plans to resurrect “Red Table Talk” in the future.

“We at Red Table are in talks of finding a new home, and we’ll see you soon,” her statement concludes. (via People)
