On Thursday afternoon, the “Baywatch” star took to Instagram to share a photo of her posing in a Princess Leia bikini. Her long brown hair falls around her shoulders instead of being tied back in Leia’s signature braid, but fans can forgive it!

“Happy Star Wars Day!! What’s your favorite @starwars film?” Donna asked in the caption. “Who is your favorite character?” She capped off her post with the hashtags #princessleia, #maythe4thbewithyou, and #linkinbio, where there might be more Star Wars content waiting for fans on her OnlyFans page.

“Well, now I want every day to be May 4th,” one fan teased. “Princess Donna is my favorite,” another follower wrote. “Oh Donna, you are my new favorite Star Wars character,” a third fan chimed in. “You could dress up like Chewbacca and it will always be you,” another follower gushed while another fan told her that she fulfills “every man’s fantasy.”

The Princess Leia Bikini Is Well-Known Throughout Pop Culture!

In 2018, “Boy Meets World” star and adult film actress Maitland Ward wore the iconic Princess Leia bikini when she visited Meltdown Comics on its last day. The bikini was originally worn by late actress Carrie Fisher in the 1983 “Star Wars” film “Return of the Jedi.”

The costume was originally built by costume designer Aggie Guerard Rogers, with the help of Nilo Rodis-Jamero. Rogers, who was part of the Industrial Light & Magic visual effects company, said that creator George Lucas only gave her general instructions about what the inside of Jabba’s palace should look like, but wanted a special costume for Princess Leia.

The original design for Leia’s outfit was originally supposed to be 25 yards of fabric “flowing through the scene” but could not make it work. Rodis-Jamero was the “Return of the Jedi” costume designer and the assistant art director for “The Empire Strikes Back.” Rodis-Jamero is the one who originally drew the sketches that would later become Leia’s iconic bikini.

Although it looks like there was only one bikini created for the scene, there were actually multiple versions created for when she stood still and when she moved. When she was sitting still, the outfit was made of copper plate and wire. However, when she needed to move during scenes, the bikini was made of leather and silk.

The Leia wearing the outfit is often referred to as “Slave Leia” on action figures and merchandise. In October 2015, a little over a year before she passed away, Carrie Fisher warned newcomer Daisy Ridley, who played Rey in the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy, not to wear anything that she wasn’t comfortable with.

“You should fight for your outfit,” Carrie said at the time (via The Hollywood Reporter). “Don’t be a slave like I was.” When Daisy agreed, Carrie added, “You keep fighting against that slave outfit.”

Last month, actress Daisy Ridley appeared at Star Wars Celebration to confirm the rumors that she was going to return for a new “Star Wars” movie set fifteen years after the events of 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that the new movie will focus on rebuilding the new Jedi Order in an interview with Entertainment Weekly shortly after the event.

“As we move into the future space — this story is about 15 years outside of The Rise of Skywalker — obviously we realized post-war, post–First Order rise of the New Jedi Order, we left episode 9 with Rey making a commitment to Luke Skywalker that she would rebuild the Jedi Order,” Kennedy said.

“And so here we are — we’re ready to do that. And it took a lot of discussion because obviously we’ve been developing stories in different spaces, and television has been a big focus of our attention right now,” she continued. “But there’s still so much interest in what happens after The Rise of Skywalker. So we’re excited to be doing that.”

Kennedy teased, “It’s entirely possible to see some people come back,” but so far, only Daisy Ridley has been attached to the project. It’s possible that Donna D’Errico could even feature in a galaxy far, far away!
