Nicolas Cage Claims He Can Recall His Time In The Womb: ‘I Could See Faces In The Dark’

Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage recently made a surprising revelation, claiming he still has fond memories of when he was still a fetus in the womb.

The “Ghost Rider” star followed his assertion by noting that his “baby brain” seemingly picked up sounds and voices from outside the womb and attached a face to them.

The “Renfield” actor, known for his quirky personality and unique outlook on life, recently revealed some surprising details about his past experiences, including memories from his time in the womb and how he always saw faces in the dark.

During his appearance on an episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Cage, 59, claimed that he has vivid memories of his time in his mother’s womb, including the activities of his brain at that age.

The actor was responding to the host’s question about what good memories he had during his earlier days.

“Let me think,” he began, per Insider. “Listen, I know this sounds far out, and I don’t know if it’s real, but sometimes I think I can go back to in-utero and feel like I could see faces in the dark or something.”

Cage added, “I know that sounds powerfully abstract, but that seems like maybe it happened.”

Cage also discussed where he believed the faces in the dark came from, which he likened to a form of pareidolia. Colbert asked if the faces were with him in the womb, to which he pointed out that his baby’s brain used external sounds and attached identities to them.

“Now that I am no longer in utero, I would have to imagine it was perhaps vocal vibrations resonating to me at that stage. That’s going way back. I don’t know. That comes to mind,” the “National Treasure” actor noted.

He then jokingly shared that he vaguely remembers being “in utero” but had previously entertained those thoughts. Cage was also prodded to share what he thinks happens to people when they die.

He said, “Oh, wow. Nobody knows; I don’t know. They say that electricity is forever eternal. That the spark keeps going. I like to think whatever spark is animating our bodies, once the body passes on, that the spark continues to go. But who can really say whether that electricity has consciousness or not?”

During the NYC premiere of Cage’s latest movie, “Renfield,” the academy award winner revealed that he used to get slapped by fans in airports, and he considered it part of the job.

In his interview with ET, Cage divulged that the incident followed fans’ love for his 1987 romcom “Moonstruck,” where they seemingly mimicked a line from it that sees his co-star in the film, Cher, slap his character.

“For the longest time, back from Moonstruck, I would walk to the airport, and people just had a habit of saying, ‘Snap out of it!’ from Moonstruck – the Cher ‘snap out of it’ [line] – and I did get slapped a few times,” he shared.

The “Face/Off” actor’s revelation shocked his “Renfield” co-star, Nicholas Hoult, who exclaimed, “No, no!”

“Oh yeah, I did. And that, you know, it’s part of the job,” Cage said, adding, “I think maybe they think I’ll cast them in something. Who knows?”

Cage recently recalled a tough time when he got into Debt of $6 million because of a failed investment.

The actor appeared on CBS News’s “60 Minutes,” where he divulged that the issue stemmed from a failed real estate investment he carried out that crashed.

“I was overly invested in real estate. The real estate market crashed, and I couldn’t leave in time. I paid them all back, but it was about $6 million. I never filed for bankruptcy,” he shared.

The host quipped that it must have been a dark period for Cage, which he concurred, saying, “It was dark for sure.”

Cage explained that he got out of the rot through intense work.

“Work was always my guardian angel. It may not have been blue chip, but it still worked,” he noted.
