Twenty-four hours after hitting what he called the biggest home run of his career, Trea Turner put on one heck of an encore in helping to send Team USA to the World Baseball Classic championship.

After crushing a mammoth grand slam Saturday against Venezuela, Turner picked up where he left off against Cuba on Sunday, smashing two long balls and driving in four runs in what finished as a 14-2 US victory.

According to Michael Clair of MLB.com, Turner is only the second US player to have a multi-home run game in the WBC. The other? Hall of Famer and Team USA hitting coach Ken Griffey Jr..

Turner socked his first homer of the night in the bottom of the second inning, clubbing a 428-foot solo shot off Cuba’s Roenis Elías to give the US a 3-1 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Turner would strike again, nailing a three-run bomb off Evian Leyva. That second homer put the US up by a comfortable 12-2 score.

All told, over his last two games, Turner is 4-of-8 at the plate with three home runs, eight RBI and three runs scored.

Turner has four homers in the WBC, is a US record, per MLB.com’s Sarah Langs. He is tied with Wladimir Balenien (2017) of the Netherlands and the Dominican Republic’s Adrian Beltre (2006) for the second-most in event history.

Only Korea’s Seung Yuop Lee, who hit five round-trippers in 2006, has managed more during a single WBC run.

Turner and Team USA move on to the WBC Championship Tuesday at 7 p.m. EST. The US will take on the winner of Monday’s semifinal between Mexico and Japan.
