Aaron Ramsdale revealed Mikel Arteta showed the Arsenal squad a clip from their Amazon documentary to motivate them to victory against Newcastle.

The Gunners fought hard to leave Tyneside with a 2-0 victory on Sunday (May 7). It not only saw them keep their title hopes alive, but also avenged some demons from 12 months ago when a 2-0 defeat at St James' Park all but ended their Champions League hopes.

At the time they had the Amazon cameras recording their every move for the All or Nothing doc, which was released in August. So Arteta used that footage in his team talk to help avoid a repeat result.

Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, Ramsdale began: “Immense pride and bit of relief as well, especially with the talk of what happened last year, to come here and put on a performance. We wanted to impose ourselves onto the game and the crowd."

Host David Jones then asked how much last year's game had impacted the pre-match planning, with Ramsdale replying: “It wasn’t mentioned until the meeting just before we left the hotel.

"The manager showed us a clip from the documentary last year, showed all of our faces, staff included, showing how hurt we were feeling.

"We had that burning desire as soon as we left the hotel that it wasn’t going to be the same today. It may have given us extra motivation. When we needed to dig deep, it really helped us."

Arsenal had to ride an early storm from Newcastle, who hit the post after just a minute and had a penalty overturned by VAR. Martin Odegaard gave the Gunners the lead with a strike from outside the box, before a Fabian Schar own-goal put them in a commanding position in the second half.
