Ice Spice Responds To Being Compared To Princess Diana

It feels like everybody’s talking about Ice Spice.

“At first, I was confused. I was like, ‘Um, Princess Diana? Out of everybody?’ But [then] I was like, ‘Fuck it, she’s iconic.’”

She spoke to the comparison on “Princess Diana,” the second track from her debut EP Like…? In the song, she says, “Calling my phone but they know I don’t answer, in the hood, I’m Princess Diana.”

But Ice isn’t the only “People’s Princess.” If you remember, back in 1997, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair used the term when referring to Diana, Princess of Wales, who died on August 31.

“The people everywhere, not just here in Britain, everywhere, they kept faith with Princess Diana. They liked her; they loved her. They regarded her as one of the people. She was the people’s princess, and that’s how she will stay — how she will remain — in our hearts and our memories, forever,” he said.

And now, Ice doubled down on the comparison by teaming up with the Queen of Rap, Nicki Minaj, for the “Princess Diana” remix, and I’ll admit it’s a fire collaboration.
