Serena Williams Hid Pregnancy News From Daughter For THIS Hilarious Reason
Serena Williams’ daughter, Olympia Ohanian Jr., is set to be a big sister, but she was left out of the loop by her mother for a good reason.
After revealing she was pregnant with her second child at the 2023 M.E.T Gala on May 1st, the retired professional tennis player is divulging more details on how she geared up to steal hearts at the recent Hollywood fashion event. She also discloses why she waited until the last minute before sharing the great news with her first child.
To do that, Williams took to her Instagram page to share a short video showing the behind-the-scenes preparation of the M.E.T Gala. As mentioned earlier, fans heard the hilarious reason Olympia found out her mother was pregnant hours before the world got apprised.
Serena Williams Couldn’t Trust Her Daughter To Keep Her Pregnancy News
The video posted by the 41-year-old briefly walked her millions of followers from the moment she took the pregnancy test till she arrived on the event’s red carpet.
The tennis star expressed that she was making her second pregnancy known at the New York fashion show — which she did — but added that she would tell her kid before she left for the occasion because the little one, due to her loose lips, may let the cat out of the bag. Williams stated:
“Olympian does not know right now that I am pregnant, so the big reveal would be at the M.E.T, and then before we leave, I’ll tell Olympian.” She continued, “The reason I haven’t told her is [be]Ecause; she can’t keep a secret.”
As the doting mother voiced her justification for hiding pregnancy news from her daughter, the clip displayed when the expecting mother and her husband, Alexis Ohanian Snr—told their daughter she was about to be a sister. She reacted by giving her loving mom a wholesome hug.
Underneath the post’s comments, many of Williams’ fans laughed about Olympia spilling the tea. At the same time, others congratulated the soon-to-be mother of two on her motherhood journey.
While the whole world couldn’t give the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion a big hug like her baby girl did when they heard the fantastic news, a slew of fans flooded the comments section of her pregnancy announcement post to express their adoration and congratulatory messages.
The superstar tennis player uploaded photos of herself, her man, and her baby bump in a 5-slide post on Instagram. In the first snap, the couple looked sharp in black attire while the mother of one was cracking up at what her hubby said or did.
Williams’s Gucci gown had a complementing jacket and a tulle train beneath. Ohanian, on the other hand, donned a simple tuxedo. Other snapshots showed different poses of the retired athlete, including the last slide that properly showcased her baby bump.
Feeling giddy in the caption, Williams’ did an exciting wordplay to announce her pregnancy. She wrote, “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala.” Afterward, fans flooded the comments section with their best wishes.
One person excitedly asked, “Wait a minute… is this an old pic? Are we having a new baby?” while another commenter wrote, “Now that’s a reveal! Congrats!” Sports journalist and executive Bonnie Bernstein wrote, “Well, THIS is, like, the holy grail of pregnancy announcement flexes, if there ever was one. Congrats Serena and @alexisohanian!!”
