Over half of Brits feel there is too much information on how to improve energy efficiency

Over half of homeowners (52%) feel they are being bombarded with too much information on how to improve their property's energy efficiency – which is leaving them less inclined to do anything about it.

A survey of 2,000 Brits, who own their property, found that 62% have not taken any steps in the last 12 months to improve the energy efficiency of their home.

But this has not stopped them making aesthetic improvements – as the month of May is the most likely time to find 45% of Brits applying a fresh lick of paint to their home, or giving the garden a makeover.

And one in ten have even considered forking out for a new kitchen.

The research, commissioned by British Gas, found that four in ten (41%) see the longer days as an opportunity to tick more DIY tasks off their to-do lists.

And a third (32%) use the warmer weather, and multiple bank holidays, as a chance to get their property up to scratch before summer – with June and April also popular months for home improvements.

But of the 38% who have made energy efficient improvements to their homes in the last 12 months, it seems smaller changes have proved more popular than larger investments.
