J Lo Re-Creates Her Classic “Maid in Manhattan” Monochrome Pantsuit

It’s no surprise that an iconic actress like Jennifer Lopez would hold space in our collective memory because of a specific onscreen outfit. Following the recent premiere of her Netflix documentary “Halftime,” the 52-year-old multihyphenate stepped out for the after-party wearing an all-white pantsuit that instantly brought us back to the classic 2002 rom-com “Maid in Manhattan.” Lopez’s character, Marisa Ventura, borrows a double-breasted peacoat and matching slacks from a hotel guest for a walk in the park with her love interest Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes). The memorable outerwear moment features the same milky-white shade as her latest street style appearance.

Given that it’s been 20 years since Lopez played Marisa, there are modern updates to the overall look in question: her wide-leg trousers come in a soft denim fabric, and she left her oversize blazer undone to reveal a fitted ribbed T-shirt in a V neckline. While Marisa accessorized her look with snake-print leather slingbacks and thin gold hoops, Lopez’s after-hours ensemble included silver metallic platforms and Lorraine Schwartz diamond drop earrings (which she’d worn on the red carpet with a Tom Ford velvet-and-mesh peekaboo dress hours earlier).

Although this monochrome moment immediately brought fans back to “Maid in Manhattan,” it’s not the first time Lopez has been spotted in head-to-toe white. Five years after the movie came out, she arrived at an Us Weekly party in ivory coordinates that also paid homage to Marisa Ventura. And, more recently, Lopez wore a sophisticated midlength white coat as Kat Valdez in 2022’s “Marry Me.” Ahead, we’ve rounded up the aforementioned all-white looks reminiscent of the beloved “Maid in Manhattan” scene. Click through for Lopez’s style transformation, then look back on the plunging Mônot number that she just wore on the MTV Awards red carpet.
