2. Originally, her parents wanted to name her Hailey, but they decided not to because it would rhyme with their last name, Bailey.

3. Her friendship with Beyoncé goes back further than you’d think! They first met when Halle was only 3 years old because her sister, Chlöe, played a younger version of Beyoncé’s character Lilly in The Fighting Temptations. The movie was filmed in the Baileys’ home state.

6. To prepare for the role of Ariel, she had to go through a lot of “mermaid training,” which involved learning how to simulate swimming while being suspended on wires over a blue screen, as well as actually swimming and other workouts.
