An official adaptation of the 2013 crime TV series, Ray Donovan, Rana Naidu follows the story of, well, Rana Naidu (Rana Daggubati), a fixer who makes a living by cleaning up the messes left behind by his famous clients. He is known as the “fixer of the stars,” and he takes his work very seriously. Rana struggles at home and his connection with his wife and two children is irreparably damaged, despite the fact that he is skilled at solving problems and assisting people in leading stress-free lives. When his father, Naga Naidu, is released from prison after fifteen long years, Rana grapples with family secrets and personal conflict and realises that the only problem he can’t fix is his own.

Rumi, a rebellious vampire with a broken tooth falls in love with a shy dentist named Dr. Roy. However, their love is forbidden by the vampire council, and they must find a way to be together without risking their lives. The city of Kolkata plays a central character in the show and Tanya Maniktala is great as the protagonist.

Based on a novel by John Le Carre and a remake of the British television series starring Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie, The Night Manager is about a former Indian Navy officer (Aditya Roy Kapur) who is hired by Indian intelligence to bring down the gang of a powerful arms dealer (Anil Kapoor). I honestly can’t wait for Part 2 of this gripping show to land in June of this year.

India’s answer to Breaking Bad, Farzi takes us through the life of Sunny, an artist who gets embroiled in the murky world of counterfeit money. Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, and Kay Kay Menon are all excellent while Bhuvan Arora is the breakout star of this show. If you’re a fan of The Family Man, you have several surprises in store for you.

The unassuming residents of the Phulera village have Abhishek Tripathi serving as their secretary for yet another year and the second season of this adorable comedy-drama takes us through the ensuing events. Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, and Chandan Roy should be declared national treasures at this point.

Delhi Crime chronicled the horrific Nirbhaya case of 2012 in such a brilliant yet sensitive manner, that it very deservedly won the International Emmy for the Best Drama Series in 2020. While chasing down the “Kaccha Baniyan Gang”, DCP Vartika Chaturvedi proves, yet again, that one can always count on her. With Shefali Shah at its helm, Delhi Crime Season 2 is just as good, if not better, than its predecessor. Tillotama Shome is a wonderful addition to this masterpiece of a show.

Amit Lodha, an upstanding cop, is on the hunt for a ruthless criminal while also tackling the problem of rampant corruption in Bihar. Where will this chase land him? Karan Tacker and Avinash Tiwary deliver fabulous performances in this binge-worthy series.

This four-part docuseries is an ode to the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra and the many timeless love stories produced by Yash Raj Films. Bollywood’s biggest stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan sit down for interviews and we also get to see the otherwise elusive Aditya Chopra.

India’s answer to the popular American television series, Shark Tank India is educational, inspiring, and entertaining in equal measures. There’s everything from truly revolutionary ideas, endearing contestants, and extremely bizarre pitches, to a panel of judges that have basically become meme fodder.

The heart-wrenching Uphaar Cinema tragedy of 1997 uprooted several lives and Trial By Fire documents the fight for justice of two such grieving parents. It is, in fact, based on a memoir of the same name written by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy. Abhay Deol and Rajshri Deshpande deliver their career-best performances in this deeply poignant show.

While on this new mission, he uncovers information that brings him face to face with the ghosts of his past. CAT is perfect from start to finish and Randeep Hooda is an absolute delight to watch.

An adaptation of the Spanish show Elite, Class is a murder mystery set in a posh high school in Delhi that essentially serves as a commentary on religious discrimination, homophobia, and India’s caste system. The cast mostly consists of fresh faces who are all incredibly promising.

A Pushkar–Gayathri creation, Suzhal: The Vortex is about a crime that takes place in Sambaloor, a small town in Tamil Nadu, which ends up uncovering some shocking revelations about its social fabric. The many twists and turns in this story will keep you hooked throughout.

Deeply entrenched in blood, guns, drugs, deceit, and power politics, Mirzapur documents the life of Akhandanand Tripathi, or Kaleen Bhaiya, who will stop at nothing to hold on to his position as the mafia lord of Mirzapur, despite the recklessness of his unworthy son, Munna.

Created by Raj & D.K., the incredibly fast-paced The Family Man is centred around Srikant Tiwari, an analyst at the “Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell”, who fights terrorists while also desperately trying to be a good father and husband. The second season of the show was much-awaited and this time, however, the covert operation was a lot more personal as Srikant Tiwari’s own daughter was involved. Oh and Samantha Ruth Prabhu stole the show as Raji (We already know Manoj Bajpayee is amazing, come on!).

Made In Heaven follows the many adventures of Delhi-based wedding planners and best friends, Tara and Karan. It helps the audience delve into the lives of the rich and fabulous while also offering an insight into just how regressive our society still is. Season 2 is, apparently, just around the corner (or is it?).

Based on the eponymous novel by Vikram Chandra, Sacred Games is essentially a puzzle created by crime boss Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) that the troubled police officer Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) is desperately trying to solve in order to save the city of Mumbai from an impending disaster. While the second season ended on a cliffhanger and then got cancelled, the show is wonderfully made and deserves your time.

This thriller-drama starring Shefali Shah, Kirti Kulhari, Vishal Jethwa, Ram Kapoor, and many other well-known actors, documents the dangers that lie within the world of human drug testing. In the course of its ten episodes, it makes you feel a myriad of emotions, ranging from fear and shock to absolute disgust.

Rocket Boys represents the magnificent journey of some stalwarts of Indian science such as Homi Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai, C.V. Raman, and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. In the second season, the story continues from 1964 and traces the involvement of the CIA in our affairs and the Pokhran nuclear test of 1974. Jim Sarbh and Ishwak Singh are a pleasure to watch on screen and this show is certainly the kind that you can’t miss.

An edge-of-your-seat thriller that draws greatly from Indian mythology, Asur follows forensic experts and CBI officers Nikhil Nair (Barun Sobti) and Dhananjay Rajpoot (Arshad Warsi), as they hunt down a cold-blooded serial killer. The show also stars Ridhi Dogra, Anupriya Goenka, Sharib Hashmi, and Amey Wagh. If you liked Sacred Games, you’ll certainly love Asur.

Largely based on “Chaurasi”, a novel by Satya Vyas, Grahan is a compelling crime drama that builds a bridge between two worlds that are several decades apart. We see a beautiful love story being destroyed by the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 and we also follow the present-day trials and tribulations of IPS officer Amrita Singh, as she unravels the truths of her past and present.

A Hotstar special created by Neeraj Pandey, Special Ops is the story of RAW Agent Himmat Singh, played by the fantastic Kay Kay Menon, who is an expert at identifying similar patterns behind terrorist attacks, such as the 2001 Parliament Attack, and is on the hunt for the mastermind.

A perfect prequel to Special Ops, Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story helps us unravel the enigma that is Himmat Singh as it takes us through the events before he becomes an R&AW officer. Kay Kay Menon is exceptional, as always and we also get to see Aftab Shivdasani as Vijay Kumar.

A TVF production and the first “black and white” Indian web series, Kota Factory deals with the lives of IIT aspirants by throwing light upon the city of Kota, famed for its coaching centres, and how it treats its nouveau, starry-eyed residents like machines. This wonderful political drama chronicles the endeavours of Rani Bharti, the wife of Bihar’s Chief Minister, as she becomes his successor, much to the chagrin of the powerful men surrounding her. Season 2 of the show documents how CM Rani Bharti navigates being accused of misgovernance. Huma Qureshi delivers a truly fantastic performance.
