John Mayer is holding onto the memories of Bob Saget as he celebrates what would have been Saget’s 67th birthday.

Sadly, the “Full House” star passed away on January 9, 2022, at 65 years, while in his hotel room in Florida. The comedian’s death certainly threw Mayer, who had known and loved him since they met in 2003, into longtime grief.

May 17 marked the demised actor’s birthday, and the “Last Train Home” singer specially celebrated the occasion.

John Mayer Marks Bob Saget’s Posthumous Birthday With Memories

Mayer wasted no time celebrating his friend’s posthumous birthday on Instagram. The “New Light” singer uploaded an old black-and-white photo of him and his comedian friend in all smiles. In the accompanying caption of the post, the singer expressed his gratitude for having memories of his pal.

He penned, “I guess what I’m saying is… thank God for our ability to remember those who have left us. It’s one of the rare divine traits of being human.”

The singer added, “We can reflect and revisit and keep the flame of someone’s impact on our lives burning bright. Thank God we don’t ever have to let go. Thank God for our memories. Happy Birthday, Bob; I love you. ♥️.”

The post left several Mayer fans teary, while some commented on the friends’ bond. Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, commented, “John, I’ve never seen this pic! So lovely! Bob (And we all) thanked God for you, too ❤️.” One fan quoted the title of one of Mayer’s songs, writing, “*you’re gonna live in me forever*.”

In January, the Grammy-winning singer honored Saget’s first death anniversary, admitting he misses his friend. Mayer wrote in his sad tribute, “One year ago today; we lost Bob Saget. I loved that guy. I love saying, “I loved that guy.” Soon after he left us, I couldn’t finish those three words without falling apart, but now I say it with all the simplicity and complexity that love itself entails.”

He further disclosed how he felt since the demise of his close pal. He expressed, “Grief is a journey, and it’s a profound trip that someone you lose takes as well; they leave the space around you and slowly climb a staircase to find a space with you.”

Ending the emotional tribute, the 45-year-old singer wrote about missing his friend. He stated, “I miss him all the time, but those memories? They’re solid objects, and today we’ll take them out, hold them, trade them, and remember how much Bob Saget meant to us. I love that guy, and I always will.”

The ‘Neon’ Singer Had A Dream About Saget Months After His Death

Mayer has been holding his dear friend close to his heart since his passing. Mayer revealed that he had a dream about him some months after the comedian died. Although the guitarist’s dream featured a younger Saget, that meeting nonetheless overwhelmed him.

The “New Light” singer said, “The other night I had a dream, and I woke up crying because I saw Bob. Oh man, it was young Bob, and we were about to go into a restaurant that I knew, and he didn’t know, and I looked right at him, and I said, ‘You gotta know how much I love you.'”

Mayer continued revealing that his friend ignored his candid confession in the dream. However, he repeated it and got a reluctant response from the comedian.

The ghost said, “‘Yeah, I know, fine,'” prompting the singer to reply, “‘No, I’m telling you. You gotta know how much I love you.'” According to the chart-topping singer, the dream was so intense that he woke up “crying like a baby.”

The “Neon” hitmaker revealed his remaining conversations with the ghost of ‘young Bob.’ “I said aloud, ‘I love you, Bob, but I got to go back to sleep,’ and I heard him say, ‘Go back to sleep, go back to sleep. You have to go back to sleep; you have to. You have stuff tomorrow.”

Mayer ended his revelations by relating the dream Saget to the real-life version. He said, “That’s no different than the magic of when he was around. And I learned that. It’s not a jump to go from here to there. Because there is nothing different about the way we access the people we love when they’re there [points up] than when they are here [on Earth].”
