Kelly Clarkson has responded to allegations from current and former staffers of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” wherein they allege the talk show has a “toxic” work environment behind the scenes.

Yesterday, a Rolling Stone article was published featuring multiple accounts of staff members sharing their experiences of anxiety, bullying, and gradual mistreatment, with numerous reports claiming the environment had been perpetuated mainly by a singular producer. This producer allegedly displayed similar behavior at their previous places of employment.

Many of these accounts mutually agree Clarkson had reportedly been “unaware” of the practices and allegedly kept in the dark about the staff’s unhappiness.

Clarkson has now responded to the allegations; Producer Alex Duda, the subject of numerous recollections, has not responded as of this writing.

An account featured in the article alleges Duda had reportedly left staff members in “uncomfortable positions” after asking racially insensitive questions.

Duda allegedly wanted to know why Black viewers didn’t want to “see Kelly?” and reprimanded a staff member for inquiring about the show’s plan to acknowledge the recent influx of Asian American hate crimes.

A white staff member reportedly asked Duda’s questions, and the staffer who reported the situation to HR allegedly felt they were gradually excluded from staff meetings. They eventually exited the show after “perceived retaliation,” per The AV Club.

When reported, issues are promptly reviewed, investigated, and acted upon as appropriate. ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ strives to build a safe, respectful, and equitable workplace that nurtures a culture of inclusivity and creativity.”

She writes, “In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I’ve always led with my heart and what I believed to be right. I love my team at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’; finding out that anyone feels unheard or disrespected on this show is unacceptable. I have always been, and will continue to be, committed to creating a safe and healthy environment at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.’ As we prepare for a move to the east coast,” Clarkson continues, “I am more committed than ever to ensure that our team that is moving, and our team in NY, is comprised of the best and kindest in the business.”

Clarkson continues, “Part of that build will include leadership training for all senior staff, including myself. There is always room to grow and ensure we are all being/becoming the best versions of ourselves in any business, especially when it comes to leadership, to ensure that any notion of toxicity is eradicated.” (per Entertainment Tonight)

In addition to the account revealing Clarkson’s unawareness, she was described as “fantastic” to staff members.

A former employee also described the “Never Again” singer as “a person who never treats anyone with anything but dignity and is incredibly appreciative.”

This ex-employee also expands, “I would be shocked if she knew. I’d be floored if she knew the staff wasn’t getting paid for two weeks of Christmas hiatus. The Kelly I interacted with, and everyone knows, would probably be shocked to learn that.” (per ET)

“The Kelly Clarkson Show” began airing in 2019 and is in its fourth season.
