The Barbie Soundtrack Rollout Has Begun,‘Barbie’ soundtrack tracklist is out along with Dua Lipa’s music video for ‘Dance the Night. Director Greta Gerwig makes a cameo ahead of the film’s July 21 release date. Nicki Minaj, Charli XCX, Ava Max, Fifty Fifty, Ryan Gosling, and more feature.
The Barbie Soundtrack Rollout Has Begun
Maybe this is how a meme dies. For the past couple years, looking up “Dua Lipa dance” would flood you with footage of that viral hip twist that got her dragged online. Now, all those search results are buried under news about “Dance the Night,” Lipa’s single for the Barbie soundtrack. This Barbie is rebranding! In the music video, Lipa is such a good dancer that she’s able to pick up new choreography right when she gets to the sparkly, pink set. She continues to perform despite the fact that a disco ball has crashed to the floor. “Even when the tears are flowing like diamonds on my face / I still keep the party going, not one hair out of place,” she sings. Director Greta Gerwig makes a cameo, and we also get quick glimpses of Margot Robbie, Issa Rae, and Emma Mackey (who are all playing Barbies) dancing. We didn’t spot Ryan Gosling, but he’s just Ken, so whatever.
One thing Gosling will be doing, however, is singing a song on the full soundtrack, along with Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, Karol G, and a bunch of other Barbies and Kens. The full track list is below, but we’ve gotta say … the concept of Charli XCX doing another song about driving is pretty tantalizing, as are the two TBAs. We’re thinking one might be Lady Gaga, who already has a song called “Plastic Doll” and has the Barbie account commenting on her Insta, but the other we’re less sure about. So we’ll simply place our bets on the Ken-iest pop star of all, Shawn Mendes, and hope for the best.
