PSG goalkeeper Sergio Rico is currently in hospital with 'severe head injuries' due to a nasty fall off his horse.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, due to the extent of the damage, an air ambulance arrived at the scene in El Rocio, Spain, to transport the shot-stopper to Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville.

According to El Mira and Canal Sur, the 29-year-old former Fulham keeper is currently intubated and remains in a serious condition. Further reports say he has been placed on life support.

On Saturday evening, Rico cemented his legacy as a 2x Ligue 1 winner, with his club clinching the title with a 1-1 draw against Racing Strasbourg.

Unsurprisingly exhilarated with the achievement, the player crossed the border into his homeland, where the tragic incident occurred.

While enjoying the tranquillity of nature in Camino de Moguer, things quickly took a turn for the worse, with the esteemed keeper falling from the animal.

With doctors still assessing the extent of his injuries, concrete details are currently few and far between.

Following the breaking of the news, his team-mates have been rendered devastated, with the likes of Neymar, who'd headed to Monaco for the Formula 1 Grand Prix, reportedly left gutted by what's occurred.

After a lengthy spell with Sevilla, Rico moved to PSG on loan in 2019, impressing to such an extent that the club offered him a full-time deal.

Having impressed manager, Christophe Galtier, he's solidified his place as Gianluigi Donnarumma's usual substitute.

As the fans and his team-mates await more news, they're holding him in their thoughts and prayers in the hope that he can make a full recovery.
