Ludumo Lamati's promoters have told fans that his vital signs are stable after he was rushed to hospital following his bout against Nick Ball.

The 31-year-old South African was stretchered out of the ring despite being on his feet at the time of the 12th round stoppage in Belfast.

An official statement reads: "Ludumo Lamati was taken to Belfast hospital. On arrival, numerous tests and scans were carried out.

"He is currently under hospital care and the latest feedback from the medical team, this morning, is that his vital signs are stable.

"We will provide further updates as soon as they become available. Please keep him in your prayers."

BT Sport shared the statement with the message: "All of our thoughts are with Ludumo and his family and friends."

A fan said in response: "Keep fighting brother the boxing world is with you. Brave warrior who gave everything."

A second added: "Sending every positive, healing, and uplifting wishes his way."

The fight was stopped by the referee after the towel was thrown in by the corner of Lamati, with 26-year-old Ball keeping his celebrations respectful.

He said: "The main thing is Lamati’s health. I hope he’s alright.

"I will be even more happy when I know that, because boxing is no joke. You have got some people not taking it seriously and you can lose your life in here, so the main thing is his health."
