King Charles III paid tribute to the late Queen of Rock’ n’ Roll, whom he first met in 1986, when the iconic singer came to London to perform at the Prince’s Trust All-Star Rock Concert held in Wembley Stadium.

Unlike others who have written flowery social media odes in honor of Turner, Charles chose a different route by allowing the Band of the Welsh Guards to perform a rendition of her hit song, “The Best.”

The band was videoed playing the song during the changing of the guard in front of Buckingham Palace on Friday, two days after the singer passed on.

Tina Turner Wasn’t Afraid Of Dying

A month ago, Turner revealed in an interview, per The Guardian, that she wasn’t afraid of dying and was ready to “embrace and accept every day with what it brings.”

This comes after she admitted in March that a kidney disease had put her health in “great danger.”

“My kidneys are victims of my not realizing [sic] that my high blood pressure should have been treated with conventional medicine,” she said in a post on Instagram in honor of International World Kidney Day.

The late singer was diagnosed with hypertension in 1978 but mismanaged the health issue, which led to a stroke in 2009. In the years after, she only took nonconventional medicine to deal with her hypertension, leading to a decline in the health of her kidneys.
