Are Mark Hamill and Hayden Christensen really about to make a return to a galaxy far, far away?

That’s the question that “Star Wars” fans are asking after a new report teased that the two veteran actors would be joining Daisy Ridley in her new movie, which is set about fifteen years after the events of 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.”

It’s important to remind “Star Wars” fans that right now it is just rumored – not confirmed – that Mark Hamill and Hayden Christensen might be joining Daisy Ridley in her new “Star Wars” film. Earlier this week, Giant Freakin Robot reported that they were informed that the two actors would be joining the new film as Force Ghosts.

Although the two actors have never shared a scene together in a galaxy far, far away, it makes sense that they would both appear to give Dasiy Ridley’s character, Rey, some guidance, as she attempts to rebuild the Jedi Order fifteen years after the destruction of the First Order.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly after Star Wars Celebration London, Kathleen Kennedy teased the plot of the movie. “As we move into the future space — this story is about 15 years outside of The Rise of Skywalker — obviously we realized post-war, post–First Order rise of the New Jedi Order, we left episode 9 with Rey making a commitment to Luke Skywalker that she would rebuild the Jedi Order,” Kennedy said.

“And so here we are — we’re ready to do that. And it took a lot of discussion because obviously we’ve been developing stories in different spaces, and television has been a big focus of our attention right now,” she continued. “But there’s still so much interest in what happens after The Rise of Skywalker. So we’re excited to be doing that.”

When asked if it was possible to see other characters from the sequel trilogy make a return, Kennedy said, “It’s entirely possible to see some people come back.” However, so far, Ridley has been the only actress attached to the project. That being said, it’s also been rumored that actor John Boyega would make a return despite his previous comments about the franchise.

Will John Boyega Will Also Make A Return To A Galaxy Far, Far Away?

In April, host John Rocha claimed on his The Hot Mic podcast that “a couple of different sources” told him that “John Boyega will be coming back” for the new “Star Wars” film, which will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy of “Ms. Marvel” fame.

However, “The Woman King” actor says that he is “good off it” despite being a fan of the franchise. “At this point, I’m cool off it. I’m good off it,” Boyega said in an August 2022 interview with SiriusXM’s Tell Me Everything With John Fugelsang when asked if he would play the character again.

“I think Finn is at a good confirmation point where you can just enjoy him in other things, the games, the animation. But I feel like ‘[Episode] VII’ to ‘[Episode] IX’ was good for me,” he added.

That being said, it seems that Boyega is still a fan of the franchise. As he told Vanity Fair in an August 2022 interview, “Industry issues have nothing to do with Star Wars and me being a fan of it. I’ve been watching Obi-Wan, I’ve been watching The Mandalorian.”

“I’m still forever going to be a fan of this franchise. As far as Finn is concerned? I’m good on that,” he added, noting that he would still give his support to his costars if they chose to return to a galaxy far, far away.

Although the “Moon Knight” actor is currently busy on Broadway, he revealed that he is “open” to returning to the “Star Wars” franchise in an August 2022 interview on Sirius XM.

The “Ex Machina” actor told host Jess Cagle that he hadn’t yet made a firm decision on whether or not he wanted to definitely return to the franchise, although, when asked if he’d return to a galaxy far, far away, he replied, “Hmm. I don’t know. No, I don’t know. I mean, I’m open to anything, you never know.”

“But yeah, there’s no… I have no real feeling one way or the other, you know? I’m open to any kind of good story, any good thing to do,” he continued. “And time. Time’s the one thing that becomes much more challenging as you get older, with kids and all that.”

“It’s like, where do these things fit in? Start really realizing that there’s not enough time for all of it,” he added. “But if there was a great story and a great director and Kathy [Kennedy] came to me and was like, ’Hey, we’ve got this idea, you know, I’m so, so open to it.”
