Jets forward returns to Game 1 after taking skate to face, getting 75 stitches

NHL players will play through almost anything to in their quest to win a Stanley Cup, and Winnipeg Jets forward Morgan Barron gave us the latest wild example on Tuesday night.

Barron had to leave Tuesday’s Game 1 against the Vegas Golden Knights after being hit in the face by a skate. That injury required 75 stitches and did not stop him from returning to the game in the second period.

You can see the play that injured him here.

Skate injuries are always scary, especially when it comes to players getting hit in the face or neck area.

The NHL has had some really scary incidents over the years, including former Buffalo Sabres goalie Clint Malarchuk and former Florida Panthers forward Richard Zdenik. Barron is extremely lucky that it did not impact his neck or his eyes or rival those incidents.

Still, that is a significant injury and stunning that he was able to not only get that many stitches that quickly, but that he was able to return to the game.

The 24-year-old Barron played in 70 games during the regular season, scoring eight goals and 21 total points for the Jets. He has 11 goals in 102 career regular season games.
