Jeff Stelling is in talks to join the BBC and Amazon after leaving Sky Sports Soccer Saturday.

The 68-year-old presenter called time on his 31-year stint with Sky at the end of last season. Stelling was given a standing ovation on the last day of the Premier League campaign by his colleagues as the stalwart fought back tears in an emotional farewell.

He is now serving a term of gardening leave before taking on a new role, having said last month: "I'm going to take a few weeks to assess my options and then decide what is next."

The Telegraph now reports Stelling already has several options ahead of the 2024/25 season.

BBC Five Live radio and Amazon Prime are both reportedly interested in securing the veteran Soccer Saturday host's services. A broadcaster told The Telegraph: "There have been conversations. Most of the leading stations are in for him."

Stelling announced his departure from Soccer Saturday after 25-years at the show's forefront earlier in the season. He tweeted ahead of his final day: "The morning after the day before. It all seems like an out of body experience (with my body, you would want to be out of it). I wanted to thank everyone for the overwhelming number of kind messages."

Stelling first joined Sky in 1992 having held roles at several other broadcasters in his early career. He presented Sports Saturday from 1994, which was renamed Soccer Saturday since 1998 and he has held the role ever since. He has also presented Channel 4's Countdown in that time, as well as a game show title Alphabetical.

Sky produced a lengthy montage of Stelling's best bits on Soccer Saturday as they closed out his final show at the helm, including tributes from old faces from the studio panel including Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson, before passing over to the man himself for a few words.

Several of his long-time colleagues had been axed in recent years, which is believed to have been a major factor in his departure, though other members of Sky Sports’ current reporting team now share the same fate.

Veteran reporter Geoff Shreeves is said to be considering his future, while iconic commentator Martin Tyler will be replaced by Peter Drury after 33 years.
