EFL fixtures released as Leicester, Leeds and Wrexham find out 2023/24 opponents

The 2023/24 EFL fixtures have been released as the relegated Premier League sides and Ryan Reynolds' Wrexham have all learned their new opponents for the coming season.

Wrexham ended their 15-year spell away from the Football League last season, when they swept the National League with a record points haul. And they will return to League Two with a home fixture against MK Dons on Saturday 5th August.

In the first five games, Phil Parkinson's side also have home clashes with Walsall and Swindon as well as trips to Wimbledon and Barrow. The Red Dragons will finish their season at the SToK Racecourse on April 27th, 2024 – when they host Stockport County.

Wrexham were purchased by Hollywood megastars Reynolds and Rob McElhenney back in 2021 – and it took them just two seasons to find their way back into the Football League.

However, it wasn't just Wrexham who found out their fixtures for the upcoming season. The relegated Premier League sides also discovered who they would face as they launch their assault to try and make their way back to the top tier of English football.

Leeds United will start their season with a clash against Cardiff City at Elland Road. The Whites take on Birmingham City in their first away game, while they will visit Preston North End on Boxing Day and host Southampton on the final day of the season.

However, who is in the dugout is still a mystery – with Leeds yet to replace Sam Allardyce, who failed to lead them to safety with just one point in four games.

Less than a decade after winning the Premier League, Leicester City have dropped out of the top division.

The Foxes also start at home as they face Coventry City at the King Power Stadium. They will kick off their season on the Sunday, one day later than the rest of the league. Their first away game will take place the following week, when they travel to Rotherham.

Leicester finish their season – in what will presumably be a top-of-the-table clash – against Blackburn Rovers at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes are away at newly-promoted Ipswich Town on Boxing Day.

Southampton are the final Premier League squad to learn their fate, and they're the only team out of the relegated sides to kick off their Championship season away from home.

New boss Russell Martin will have to deal with a tricky clash on the first Friday evening of the season as they face newly-promoted Sheffield Wednesday. However, Wednesday will have to find a new boss before the clash – after they sacked Darren Moore earlier this week.

Southampton and Leeds United will face off at Elland Road on the final day of the season, in another tricky game for the Saints. The newly-relegated side face Martin's old side Swansea City in a grudge match at St Mary's on Boxing Day.
