Stephen Curry reacts to Draymond Green’s stomp

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors were defeated by the Sacramento Kings 114-106 on Monday night.

With the loss, they are now down 2-0 in the best-of-seven series heading back to The Bay.

Beyond the end result, a big reason why this particular outing made national headlines was an encounter between Warriors star Draymond Green and Kings big man Domantas Sabonis.

Video of the stomp heard around the world largely speaks for itself.

After the game, Curry was asked for his take on what transpired.

He stood up for his teammate while seemingly blaming Sabonis for the altercation.

“I didn’t see it happen live,” he said. “I got the rebound and just headed down the other way. I know that he grabbed his foot, I don’t know what you’re supposed to do in that situation. [Sabonis] obviously finished the rest of the game. He’s a tough guy but I’m sure he’s going to be alright.”

Sabonis, for what it’s worth, did end up being alright. X-rays on his ribs and lungs came back negative and he appears to have not suffered any structural damage.

It will be fascinating to see how all parties involved respond going forward.

So far in this series everything has been going the Kings’ way. De’Aaron Fox is becoming a massive star. Malik Monk is turning into a brand name. It genuinely feels like Sacramento can’t miss at this point.

Obviously the Warriors are the defending champions for a reason, but it’s easy to see why they are getting frustrated. The Kings seem to have their number.

How will what happened on Monday night ultimately impact Green, Sabonis and both squads involved? Time will tell.
