Jensen Ackles Says He’ll Be ‘Mad’ If Pedro Pascal Is Cast As DC’s Batman

Actor Jensen Ackles is already anticipating that he’s going to lose out on his dream role as Batman in the DC universe to Pedro Pascal!

The 48-year-old actor from Chile became a household name after his role in “Game of Thrones” and has since gone on to star as the titular Mandalorian in the “Star Wars” Disney+ live-action series. He recently took on the role of Joel in HBO’s “The Last of Us” series, which has garnered even more critical acclaim.

It’s well-known to fans of the “Supernatural” star that he would love to be able to play the role of Batman, especially in the DC Universe; however, he thinks he is going to lose out on the role to Pedro Pascal!

It’s well known to fans that “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn and Peter Safran are now rebooting the DC Universe. The two are still working on casting a Batman for “The Brave and the Bold,” which features Bruce Wayne meeting and raising his son, Damian. There have been rumors that “The Winchesters” actor has been in talks to play the new Batman, as he is a big fan of the franchise.

Although he has not had experience with the live-action Batman, he did voice Red Hood and Batman in “Batman: Under the Hood” and “Batman: The Long Halloween” movies. The Texas native also voices Batman in the DC’s Tomorrowverse animated feature, which makes him a fan-favorite choice to be the next Batman in live-action as well.

During an appearance at a fan convention, Ackles responded to a fan who asked him about rumors that he was in talks to play the next Batman in the DC universe. “I don’t know,” Ackles admitted in a video posted by Home of DCU on Twitter. “Even if I knew, I wouldn’t tell you. I mean, could I do it? Sure. Would I wanna do it? Yes. Will I be mad when Pedro Pascal gets it? Yeah. God bless you, Pedro. You just keep killing it, buddy. Let me know when you pass on something. ”

That being said, the “Dark Angel” actor went on to admit that nothing is currently happening right now due to the ongoing writer’s strike. “Look, right now nobody’s talking about anything,” he continued. “There’s a strike going on in the entertainment industry, and until that gets solved, nobody is having conversations about anything.”

Ackles concluded his remarks by joking, “Would I entertain the idea of playing my favorite superhero of all time? Nah, I’m good.” He laughed before he added, “I would love it. Sign me up.”

Ackles has already had significant experience in the superhero realm. He joined “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke for season 3 of “The Boys” after he was cast as Soldier Boy. He has since teased the possibility of returning for season 4 of the Amazon Prime series, giving fans something to look forward to even if he isn’t cast as Batman.

Although fans can look forward to seeing Pedro Pascal reprise his role as Joel in “The Last Of Us” season 2, there is no such hope to see Jensen Ackles again in “The Winchesters.” As previously reported by The Blast, The CW has decided to focus more on unscripted programming and opted not to give “The Winchesters,” a spin-off series of the hit series “Supernatural,” a second season. Although Ackles, who served as an executive producer on the series, tried to shop the show around to other networks, it looks like the “Supernatural” franchise will be off the air for now.

On June 3, the actor who portrayed the character of Dean Winchester for over a decade confirmed that the show would not be returning. “To all of you who watched, followed, and supported this story, THANK YOU. And to all those who brought this show to life…I couldn’t be more proud of what we all did together,” he tweeted.

“But as they say…timing is everything. With a massive Network shift coupled with an industry strike…welp…that’s some unfortunate timing,” he added. “Sleep well dear @WinchestersOnCW …until we meet again. Somewhere down the road.”
