Julianne Hough’s summer plans are set and take a different, more relaxed turn from the typical “hot girl summer.” In an interview with Page Six at the American Ballet Theatre’s June Gala last Thursday, Hough revealed her anticipation for reconnecting with friends, saying, “I’m ready for friends and travel, and I guess that is a ‘hot girl summer.’ I don’t know.”

However, when asked if romance might also be on the agenda, the incoming co-host of “Dancing With the Stars” dismissed the idea with a laugh, indicating that it was not a priority.

Hough turned heads in a stunning vintage ensemble for the Gala, wearing a glittering champagne dress designed by the renowned Zac Posen. The 2005 creation featured an exquisite jacquard pattern and a captivating cape-like back draping, adding elegance to her appearance. Completing her ensemble, Hough carried a clutch bag reminiscent of a beautiful seashell, adding a unique and whimsical element to her overall look.

The talented dancer, now 34, finalized her divorce from hockey player Brooks Laich in June 2022, following their split announcement two years prior.

The former couple shared a joint statement expressing their decision to separate, emphasizing their enduring love and respect for each other. “We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward,” the statement read.

Hough filed a declaration for an uncontested dissolution of marriage in Los Angeles per the court documents obtained by The Blast.

The documents revealed that neither couple requested spousal support. It stated that both Hough and Laich relinquished “any and all rights which she may have to seek spousal support from Respondent, and in no event, and under no circumstances, can she obtain spousal support from Respondent at any time or in any amount.”

Julianne Hough Relocates To New York City

During her divorce, Hough moved from Los Angeles to New York City, and she’s smitten with her new surroundings. “Everything is so accessible at any moment, and it’s a city full of possibilities and dreams and connections, and you can think really big here,” she gushed about the vibrant city.

Hough finds inspiration in the city’s ability to make you think big. She said, per Page Six, “It just feels like there’s more ability that you’re going to meet somebody or connect with somebody with similar like-mindedness or the complete opposite and can challenge you. I love the people. I love the culture. I love that every day I feel more a part of the world — and I love LA, too, but it just feels different.”

However, one aspect of Manhattan that Hough playfully admits is not as enjoyable: the occasional overpowering scent of urine during the summer months. She acknowledged the trade-offs of living in a bustling metropolis with a lighthearted laugh, saying, “It’s give-and-take. You pay for certain things. You compromise on other things. Yes, the smell’s not very good.”

Julianne Hough Reflects On Her Life

As autumn approaches, Hough is preparing to return to Los Angeles to embark on her new role as co-host of “Dancing With the Stars” alongside Alfonso Ribeiro. This exciting opportunity holds special significance for the former “America’s Got Talent” judge, given her deep connection to the show, having started her career as a professional dancer and later serving as a judge.

Attending the ballet gala last week served as a poignant reminder for Hough, sparking reflections on the different paths her life could have taken.

She told Page Six, “When I was living in London, I was offered to go to the Royal Ballet, and I chose to stay in my performing arts school so that I could be a little more versatile, develop dancing, do acting and singing. At the time, it was a very, very hard decision.”
